Title: The new girl is home.....
Post by: BMiller on May 25, 2009, 07:40:09 AM
I picked her up yesterday in Mississippi and drove her all the way back to East Tennessee.........now she's home.  The first few are cell pics and the last I shot after 16 hours of driving so the better quality ones will have to wait [laugh]

On the road:

2001 900SS, it has a 960 big bore kit with all the paperwork etc. and dyno sheets.  It has the adjustable forks and the Brembo 5 spoke rims with the aluminum swingarm, I'm assuming that makes it the "S" model, but I'm not too familiar with the SuperSport designations.  Ohlins damper, Sargent seat, Remus Exhaust, and a Power Commander.  I think I did alright on the deal.  BTW, you are right over the mountain from me [thumbsup]

I was gonna mention there was another 900 patrolling the other side of the border!  ;D

Lots of goodies, that's gotta be fun.  The 900 makes plenty of power, I bet the 960 kit gives it a nice extra grunt!  Mine is stock except for pulling the clutch gasket to make it jingle & Sil Moto low mounts.  Bright yellow too.

What are th e#'s on the dyno sheet? I just got  a M900 with 12.1 FBF pistons in it and it makes just under 80 HP at the rear tire. by the way the bike looks awesome!

I was actually just looking for a stocker 900, but when he told me he had all the receipts etc, I jumped on it [thumbsup]

The clutch cover should be off tonight when I get home and then I'll throw my Pazzo's on [beer]

HP=84.4 Torque=64.6 Air/Fuel=17.5

Those are the numbers they pulled on the dyno.

I like the Bike,  I have recently found interest in the SS..I like how you keep the bike in the living room..then you can stare at as your source of entertainment for the night... [thumbsup]

That style SS is nice, it holds its style sooooo good. I rode a 900 ss a  year or so ago and was sold on the 900 engine.  What clutch cover are you going with?

The bike was idling at a tad over 3k with no choke when I picked it up, I asked him if it always does that and he said he thought the carbs needed to be adjusted [bang] I didn't bother telling him it's a fuel injected bike.  Here is a pic of the screw that just needed a few turns to drop her back down to normal operating idle [laugh]

She can breathe again!!!  Notice how dirty the sides of the engine etc. is...........I'll have to take some new pics of it all degreased [moto] [thumbsup]

Beautiful bike man.  There's a guy I ride with around here who has 999r which was an upgrade from his old SS and he didn't have enough good things to say about the 900.  Not that he doesn't enjoy the 999 more :).

FTR my shop here has a '91 Supersport 900 for sale on consignment for $3900 if anyone is interested.  I would have snatched it up but the Beemer is burning a pretty good hole in my pocket.  The thing has FBF full system, hi comp pistons, CF bits galore, and looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor.  We're talking clean clean clean.  Dave said the last time he dynoed it it came out at about 95hp.  It looks and sounds just like this one

loudbike ducati 900ss custom 900 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y3dnnXHCXk#hq)

Don't mean to steal your thunder BMiller :).  Post up once you've had a couple of rides under your belt and let us know how she rolls.  Jealous, BTW.  There's just something about the old air-cooled two valvers.  It's a true motorbike.    [bow_down].

I was tempted to just flip this one and get another Monster, but my buddy told me to flip it and get another 748.........I figured I could keep this and be middle ground, I have a full fairing bike with the 2v 900 that I wanted and it's more comfortable then both..........I think this bike is going to make me happy [laugh]
