Dark Horse Racing is running ToR again this year, we are pitted on the second row in from the Start/Finish line.  You cant miss us, we will have a ToR sign-up sandwich board at our pits, and our Carolina blue race bikes. 

We are also accepting volunteers to work corners during the ToR events.  If you are interested in ToR but don't have a bike, or are not sure if you're ready for the track, you can volunteering some time and help us by working a corner!  Anyone who volunteers to work a corner for us, can ride the next ToR for free!  We will also be BBQing in our pits and will feed anyone who help's out.  :)

Few changes have been incorporated into ToR:

 - Not a new rule, but one I have to keep repeating.  At NO point should any ToR participant pass the lead rider. This has happened at a number of ToR events.  The lead rider will be very visible, not sure what we will be using this next weekend, but we have used a big red X, an orange Vest in the past, but people still tried to pass him.  Please people, do not pass the lead bike, he is there for a reason.  We will discuss this in more detail at the ToR riders meeting

 - Max number of riders is 35

 - If a rider crashes, all other riders return to the hot pit area (where we start from) and wait for instructions.  Two or more control riders will assist the downed rider.  If the rider is ok, the bike cleared from any impact zones, and the track clear of any debris, we will resume ToR immediately.  If the rider is not ok, or there is oil/coolant on the track that needs cleanup, ToR is done for the day.  One of the control riders will ride the downed rider back to the pit area, and Blinky will get the bike after ToR is complete (unless he wants to sooner, remember this is his lunch period)

Unfortunately, I didn't promise very hard.  Was only a 'sort-of' promise.  I had my fingers crossed.  So, it wouldn't take much to break my promise to myself.

I often argue with myself.

And lose.

But, then again, one of always wins, too.   [bang]

Tried to ride the SV at TOR, couldn't get my own leg up over the seat.

finally did (with help) and I couldn't keep it upright because it was too damn high and my leathers kept hindering my leg movement.

 I finally gave up.  :-[

Had a great day, although a pretty dang hot day.

I enjoyed TOR; it was exciting.  But, it was my last TOR (with my current bike, at least).  I was on the fence about it today and I made my mind up afterwards.

What kind of 'exciting' is it? 

Kind of like being-in-a-bar-when-a-fight-breaks-out-exciting:  you're ducking and dodging, pushing your way through the pack, not really knowing what's going on behind you, hoping nothing hits you from behind; you're just looking as far ahead as you can, using your periperial vision and navigating through a mass of humanity and furniture (or riders and motorcycles, in this case), a couple bodies go down around you, and eventually you make it to the door/pits.

The adrenline feels good at the time, but it felt better to be done.

Ok, Hemingway I'm not, but I thought is was a funny literary parallel to sketch.    ;D

John, you can take my SV out next (Saturday) ToR if you want.  Its a fun little bike.  I am buying Cierra some new tires so she can use her Ninja.

Also, as a side note.  We are going to be reducing the number of riders from 35 to 30.  There seemed to be just to many people on the track Sunday.  If we have too, we will go to 25, but I'm hoping 30 is a good safe number.

Honestly, I think that this just proves the point on the monetary value of having a street class in practice.

I didn't intend to hate on TOR - I think it's great.  I like getting out there and working on corners, etc.  However, I agree with the concensus that the field was a little full out there yesterday.   

Did you guys watch the TOR video from RolandK that he posted on PNW?  At about 5:50 there is a great shot of someone rocketing down the back straight at 11ty billion mph.  Wow.  Not sure what his objective was?  Then the Turn 1 wipeout occurs at about 6:45 I think.

I dunno.  I'll defer to you racer dudes to make judgments about stuff like that.  I definitely see the wisdom of sanctioned track days and the class specific racing you guys do.
