Ok here's the poop....
My 696 has about 2500 km on it...It had the 1000k service done...Now when it is Cold(cold as in not run for a while such as Over night and not outside temp) It starts terrible...In fact there are times where i am sure it will not even start....I really have to work the starter to get it running.....I can sometimes smell fuel and if I had to guess it acts like my old snowmobile and sounds as if it is flooding.......Once it has warmed up it runs fine....and starts fine...
Now I have lots of mechanical skills but most are from fixing Jet engines and as you know this is not a jet engine....I know it just needs an adjustment but do not want to muck it up worse..I mean now i can get it to run and if i go in their blind that may not be the case long...
Now I would take it to dealer but the next appointment is like 2 weeks from now....
any ideas

Are you using your fast-idle/choke lever? If not pull it about half-way and see if it starts any better.

Yes I am....

Just out of curiosity, you are not doing anything with the throttle when starting? I seem to remember that the TPS on the 696 is set every time you turn the key to "ON" which would mean if you had the throttle open (doing nothing on a FI bike) when the electics are self-checking, you might be causing something.
Just to be sure, you are following the instructions in the manual for cold start, have made no changes to the bike, and the problem started after the 1K service?
Yes I am doing it all....exactally as manual says....
