Title: Help a newb with my tank...
Post by: timmer357 on May 27, 2009, 09:46:14 PM
I just had DucPainter fix the tank on my 99 m750.  It had the hinge leak and he hooked me up.  Got it back today and began assembly to make the beast go again.

Problem:  I somehow lost the clamp that holds the fuel filter to the tank.  The little screw is here with the parts but not the clamp.  I have no idea where it could be but I need to replace it.

Question:  Anyone have cheap and quick solutions to this?  Will some sort of clamp from an auto or home store substitute?  If not, can someone point me in the direction of OEM parts online and what that part may be called?  The local Triumph dealer (I have a Thruxton too) told me a spring style radiator hose would do the trick.

Thanks in advance.

741.4.051.1A Clamp

You may be able to make one from a hose clamp.  If you try that, find a hose clamp made out of softer metal than the shiny, stainless screw type, too hard to shape and drill.  It shouldn't be too hard to make one from scratch out of a band of metal.

Thanks.  I may just stick with the stock replacement.  Can someone point me in the direction of online OEM replacement parts?  I just checked the majority of the sponsors and nothing came up on their sites but it seems a call to a few of them may yield what I need.
