Title: Airbox drain hose (696): vestigial organ?
Post by: Holden on May 29, 2009, 02:23:38 AM
What's the point? Apparently it just dead-ends into the rubber part of an eyedropper (yeah, that one).

Does this hole need to stay sealed for some reason?

After I installed my Termi Kit on my bike I noticed oil under the bike for a week or so. I was lost to figure out what it was until I traced it from my airbox drain hose and the freshly oiled K&N air filter.

On the earlier bikes that rubber boot is actually open to allow drainage.

Are you sure it's sealed?

Mine opens up with positive pressure, it only looks sealed, looks like it`s closed to stop crud from entering it from the outside  [thumbsup]

Ah... no wonder oil got out of gearhead's airbox. My world makes sense again.

In that case I may perform a shortening mod of sorts. Maybe a thin cloth filter clamped to the nipple itself. (plastic hose guard & shroud removed already)

Thanks for your replies! [beer]
