Title: M696 minus charcoal, plus oil cooler

So last week i installed an H Competition oil cooler, and while i was at it i ripped off the charcoal canister, also removed the plastic shroud, mounted the horn on one of the holes left behind, and put the Voltage regulator where the horn was.  (I'd post pics if i had a camera.)

So far it seems that the bike starts easier than it used to, fast idle lever on as always, but it doesn't bump up to the 4k rpm after ~30sec like it used to.  Fast idles up to just over 2k and floats there until i turn it down to the 1.2k

Anyone able to enlighten me on what's going on here?  (i'm guessing it has something to do with the ECU adjusting startup minus the evap fumes?)
