Put a set of Marving slip-ons Left and right style cans on. Left the udder on hoping (or was it assuming) that all would be fine. Well the bike just isnt happy anymore below 4000 rpm. Coughs, lightly surges. Is the PCIII the way to go? They have an off road version and a carb approved on road. Someone mentioned the carb approved street version only takes care of 4k rpm and above. I know the only proper way is to dyno it, etc. But until then, do the pre made maps work ok from their site?
yep, the off-road one gives you full editing ability.
if you can find a canned map w/a setup that's closest, it'll most likely do the job well enough until you can get it dyno'd.
or maybe have your dealer tweak the factory trim if it's a real short-term fix
Thanks for the reply. I thought I could adjust the tps a little to richen things up, but the mounting holes are not slotted. So I put it back and checked that the ohm reading was where it was before I started. Sigh.. didnt expect this route [bang]
I meant on your ECU... they should be able to adjust your fuelling slightly, and it might be enough to get you going 'til you pick up a PCIII
of course, OTOH, getting you bike dyno-tuned is fun, too [evil]
Yes, I knew what you meant, thanks. I sorta went off track. Surprising that nearly all of power commanders maps are for european. Dyno tuning is the way to go for sure. Wonder if you need to sign a release in case they throw the engine. If thats the case, I'll use a default map, or just put the old cans back on :-\
iirc I had to sign disclaimers at the shop I went to.
but, if the shop is dynojet certified, chances are good that the dude knows what he's doing. my bike ran like a champ after the tune, and picked up a few ponies/lb-ft, and power delivery was much, much better overall
and one of these days I gotta get 'round to re-tuning it [roll]
A canned map is OK..and thats about it...OK. If you are spending the cash to get a PCIII it is money well spent to get it dyno tuned. My bike was 100% better from the canned map, to a dyno tuned map. Just my.02
