pics dont due it justice
the new monsters still look like dog shit in person, they look like legos or something
what color, i like the black the best in pictures, but I still there is way to much going on! What were your opinions before you saw it in person?

it was all black with carbon
Werd. Looks better in person than in pics. Kinda like the XX9 series motos. I know, I know......I'm biased 'cause I have one of those XX9 bikes. :P
I'm waiting to see if BMW makes/brings that low rider naked bike stateside. [moto]
i saw both at dealer yesterday. standard model in white with black frame and S model red with gold/bronze frame. I personally love the red frame on any duc, but that probable won't come out till next year or 2. my thoughts.. too cluttled up, hoses everytwhere, also looks bulky.
-I see many Ducati's down in Lincoln, Ne and I am from Omaha. When I was visiting Lincoln, I saw a new Streetfighter and shit my pants. I didn't know what it was and I was like, "DAAAAMMMMMN, sick lookin bike." Then I saw Ducati on the tank and I was quite sure it was the Streetfighter. All back and nasty. Pretty awesome.
have to agree... looks like dog poop, but they say it outperforms prettier models.
Ride it, then post an opinion.
but legos are rad.
-Eh.....i can agree. it does look a little overdone, but i think it still looks wicked.
I have to say, as butt ugly as the 696 an 1100 look, with an ex box/boom tube exhaust, bar-end mirrors, and old-Monster style headlight - they'd actually look pretty swanky.
Since it was raining yesterday, I set out for the closest Duc dealer (an hour away) in the hopes of maybe seeing one. No such luck. :(
Saw the new Monsters for the first time, and can't say I was in love (the OEM exhaust looks awful). The two most interesting bikes there were the red 1098 (drool) and black Hyper S.
Never sat on a SBK before, but if clip-ons can be fitted that have a tad more rise and pullback I think I could live with a 1098.... ;)
Saw the Streetfighter approx. two months ago. It's hot!! [thumbsup]

Heli Bars ;D
Gee, thanks. I think. I see by their site that the rise and pullback are about what I was thinking too.
Gulp. Need pretty red sex machine.... :)

Funny, what I like best about the new monsters is the stock exhaust and the new headlight, but the bar-end mirrors, I'm with ya.
I saw a red one today on the street. The guy was riding 2 up and I drooled from the second I spotted it until I lost sight of it in my rearview (they were heading the opposite direction).
I sat on one last week, the stupid pipes foul your heel when you're tying to get the balls of your feet on the pegs. Otherwise, it was really nice but I can't understand why Ducati wouldn't just do under seat exhausts.

My pleasure! ;D
The Heli Bars also fix the problem of cracking your knuckles on the fairing at full lock. In the end I still couldn't live with my 848 on the street...but the Heli Bars were a HUGE improvement. The local traffic, distance to twisties, and bike hating local police all contributed to the demise of my 848 though. :-\

If (big IF) I pulled the trigger on a 1098, it would be solely for shorter pleasure rides, mainly raising hell on the back roads around the local lakes (and leering at it while drinking beer in the shop). No commuting, no town riding, no long trips.
Of course, a Hyper S would be a better all-around fit, but for less than a couple of Gs more....
