Post by: JoeMason007 on June 01, 2009, 12:59:47 AM
A couple of things, I read alot of riders put Mobile 1 motor oil in thier bike, just wondering if thats the regular one you can buy at a Wal-Mart....Also I have an 03 Monster, its carbureted and its thier any good carburator cleaners you can buy that you can just pour right in the gas tank...thanks for the help guys

Just FYI, there were no carbureted Ducs in '03. Maybe a fuel injector cleaner. (anyone?)

And I'm not going to open the "what oil" can of worms, but I don't believe that WalMart sells the preferred viscocity Mobil 1 Oil (I can't remember off hand).

If your bike has a wet clutch it is best to use moto specific oil, Mobil1 4T or V Twin is fine.  Unless you have a Monster 400 or a highly modified 2003 your bike is fuel injected.  If you just bought the bike and have a fuel supply issue start with the fuel filter.  Folk seem to like Sea Foam, do not over dose the bike.

you bike is fuel injected (ie) and for Gods sake use motorcycle oil in a motorcycle, it may be a little more exspensive but you are only buying 4 quarts (Iknow they dont take 4  full quarts)

the Mobil 1 you are looking for is racing 4t (used to be called MX4T)

Think really hard about putting injector cleaner into your tank.  IMHO it's potentially engine-damaging in a moto  (and I realize that lots of people have done it.)  It's a little more work, but pretty easy to remove the injectors and soak them.  Ducati recommends Yamaha liquid carb cleaner for soaking only.
