Title: Any tips on engine removal?
Post by: d_a_mage on June 01, 2009, 03:59:35 AM

Hi,

I'm in process of removing engine from the frame. I'm in the final stage where I should remove the swing arm (M800s). Factory manual (M620) shows a   tool that should be used to hold swing arm in it's place after it is removed from the engine. Obviously I don't have this tool, do I need it? The frame is hanging from the ceiling so there should not be any weight on rear suspension. Can I just unbolt the swing arm? I'm I going to have problems when refitting the swing arm without this tool?

Thnx for your help.

You don't need to remove the swing arm to pull the frame.

You also don't need a special tool if you do remove the swinger.. There are some shims that will drop out. Make a note of their location as they align the rear wheel with the engine.

Thanks for the help. Engine is now removed. You were right about shims. I don't have clue in what order to put those back.  [laugh]

There is always at least one thick one on the chain side.
