I have to admit I'd be a bit worried about someone running into the back of the bike. Cheers. Madalf Title: Re: Motorcycle Caddy Post by: goldFiSh on June 01, 2009, 07:26:31 PM Howdy All. My guess is no, considering you need to register trailers and the like... Title: Re: Motorcycle Caddy Post by: mattyvas on June 01, 2009, 11:00:50 PM I know it may be out there waiting for damage to happen but for those of us who have
very limited space for a trailer it is an interesting way to get your bike to the track. It would be good to have an extra set of tail lights to hang off the back end just for further safety Title: Re: Motorcycle Caddy Post by: bigiain on June 02, 2009, 01:52:01 AM I think there's is something like that that's road legal here - I saw one at the Motorcycle Show a few years back...
My concern with them (apart from the fact that you _should_ be riding the bike, not towing it) is the mileage and wear you'd get on the bike while towing - with the rear wheel on the ground, unless you pull off the chain you're not only spinning the wheel, but the output shaft in the gearbox too which means al the constant mesh gears are going around, and as I understand it the gearbox is intended to be "splash lubricated", where oil flinging off the turning crank is the main source of gear lubrication. That "Be sure to check with your dealer and read your owner's manual to be sure your bike will not be damaged towing in neatural." would, I'm sure, get you laughed at by any manufacturer other than Harley with their separate engine and gearbox oil systems. big Title: Re: Motorcycle Caddy Post by: Dockstrada on June 02, 2009, 02:46:23 AM Not to mention if you get a flat, how would you know ??? no more rim oop's :o

In a word - no. I can see how it would be convenient etc - but the paranoia it would generate in me would be far outweigh any of those benefits. :-\ |
