I was wondering what bike does that top triple come from? it has the ducati logo on..
I didn't know where to post.. Hope it's the right section ;D
Probably should be in "accessories & mods" - you can move it yourself, a button to click, look down and left.
The "plate" is called a top triple. It's a stock piece, but some of the material where the steering bar would be, is gone. It has been powdercoated and the headlights/instruments are lowered. Looks very nice 8)
oh sorry. I replaced the term plate. Here we call it piastra so I translated it as "plate".
Yes, anyways I bought a s4 top triple for my m695 cause I want to mount clip-ons. I don't like it too much but the costs are high for this type of parts. I've read also that thw owner of this bike simply chopped the risers... mmm.. it doesn't sound as a bad idea but there could be structural problems with the modified top triple.. maybe..
Hey Alessandro..
What you see is a modified stock top triple, the sticker is perhaps what makes it look nicer than what it is.
It is a simple modification, just chop the risers off, sand it really well, apply two coats of
primer, two more of paint (whatever color you like) and that is it.
Originally I had coated it with a clear coat also, but I am not recommending it. I am in the process of repainting it all over again because the clear coat started to crack..!
Here is ome more picture.
A very inexpensive modification indeed.

You can also fill in those holes before you paint/powdercoat. More pictures of Juan's modded stock triple.

how about the mesh between the gauges and triple?
didn't you have any problem with the bracket which supports the light and the instrumentation?
My mechanic says he can't mount clip-ons on my bike becuase of this problem.. [roll]

No problem [thumbsup]
Well - "no problem" has to be adjusted a little:
- I use Swatt clip ons with 2.5 or 3.5 inches rise (even the 3.5 puts the bars two inches lower than where they were on my S2R. On the 695 the difference will be bigger. http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/CL-50/Bars-Mirrors/CL-50.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/CL-50/Bars-Mirrors/CL-50.html)
- you might have to reroute some of the lines/wires, but your mechanic shouldn't have a problem with this.
- you will need spacers to mount the clutch/brake master cylinders/reservoirs a little away
from the clip ons. http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/ADAP/Clutch-Brakes/ADAP.html (http://www.monsterparts.com/pc/ADAP/Clutch-Brakes/ADAP.html)
Study my picture, show it to your mechanic and ask again if you need to know more [thumbsup]

stopintime's bike came out really nice. You can also go the route many of us have and lower the headlight and mount the gauges under the triple. This is accomplished by cutting down the headlight bracket. There is a tutorial on the forum to do this. Many of us have done it, makes the bike look even better w/ clip ons esp. if you delete the windscreen.

I have the same top triple as the bike above, but after powdercoating sanded the edges to give it a different look --->

Plan to do the same thing to my open clutch cover and other bits to the bike to keep the "theme" going...

Which other bits? I like the theme and started thinking......
Sprocket cover, chain guard, frame plugs, mirrors, plate mount, pegs, rotors, calipers, head light ring, ??
Just don't overdo it - subtle is much nicer [thumbsup]

Def. doing my open clutch cover, and anything else I can rip off the bike and powdercoat that has some good edges to sand down.
Going to def. be a winter project, becasue riding season is starting to dwindle down here in good Ol' Chicago and want to ride as much as possibile..
I race RC cars..! I got the washers from one of those cars, but I am sure there are better ones somewhere else. here is a not so nice picture of them.

I did some changes to the triple since those old pictures, here is the way it looks now.

nice, Juan.
your upper is what inspired me to grind my stock down as well. I filled in the holes and painted the whole thing with a matte black self-wrinkling paint to make it look more factory (and hide my grinding marks). can't see the whole thing in this pic, but you get the idea.
I like the added mesh, that's a good way of hiding the wiring.

Thanks bones, your intrument panel looks really cool..!! [bow_down]
Juan, what kind of machine did you use to cut off the handle bar risers? I like how you totally cut them off to the point there is a hole where they once were, also what clip ons are you using?
Hey Craig, thanks, I used a grinder like this one to cut

The clipons are from motowheels.

mounted! ;D
I think I'll adjust some particulars by myself cause mechanics here in Italy are a little expensive (he signed me 5 hours of work just to mount clip-ons).
I'm curious of your top triple without risers

Allesandro,

mmm.. I don't think Speedymoto is sold in Italy.
Have to check or get an order from US.
