Title: More Power through cam adjustment
Post by: MAXdB on June 02, 2009, 10:38:45 PM
This was copy/pasted from duc.ms site:

"From stock the gain from the full system with DP ECU etc... is about 11bhp at peak, with even more in the mid-range, see here for a sample before / after dyno run. With the cams degreed in and a customer PCIII map you get to the low 130's. My dyno chart for that is here"

and

"I have attached two dyno runs from previous MS4RS models I have dynoed/worked on. The first is Dyno Run .001 all stock as received. Dyno Run .008 is with the Termignoni full exhaust, DP intake and DP ECU with tuning. The next Dyno Run .008 is the same MS4RS as above, compared to another MS4RS with full Zard exhaust, DP intake, DP ECU and cam timing advancments/dyno tuning, Dyno Run .026. You will notice that the dip between 5K-6K RPM is gone with the cam advancement. These models use the same cams as the 999s motors which often come retarded several degree's. The lack of top end power is from the smaller diameter exhaust of the Zard compared to the Termignoni. I tried to talk the customer into the DP system, but he was not a fan of the GP style exhaust. Both bikes run great and are a huge improvement over stock, but 10hp is 10hp no matter where it is in the rev range."

... I thought I'd ask since my dyno run showed a dip in the 5k-6k RPM range also... what is involved in the cam advancement? is it beginner/medium/expert level stuff?

It's a fairly tedious procedure, not terribly complicated, but needs some special tools.

What Monster do you have?

07 S4rs.. is it something I should ask to be done during my next valve adjustment? Also, would this require another custom map? Thanks!

It'd be cheaper to get it done at that time.

Likely would need another mapping session, but that depends how much the timing actually gets changed.
