Is there any way to adjust the clutch on a S2r800?
I find it grabs to late, almost at the end of the travel. It's not slipping or anything.
Tried adjusting your levers any? Not sure if your bike has adjustable levers, but that might do the trick for you, to put it into a more comfortable range of motion.
The 800 doesn't have adjustable levers as stock items.
That engagement point/feel is typical of the ATPC Clutch monsters like the s2r 800 695 and 620. Some folks replaced the stock lever with and adjustable one (CRG, Pazzo AGV etc) others just adapt to the feel
You can also switch to an Evoluzione clutch slave, or other comparable brand, to reduce clutch pull effort and increase the engagement range.
The APTC has alot of slop in it. Thats why the clutch starts to engage soon after the bar but does not fully engage until it is almost all the way out. I tired different levers but could not get what I was looking for, I ended up swapping the whole clutch assembly to a none APTC unit out of an 800ss. It about doubled the pull effort on the lever but went along way to improve the feel of the clutch.
I installed an Evo slave unit and some CRG adjustable levers on my S2R800 and it improved the clutching quite significantly. What makes the most difference are the levers though. Easy to install, just make sure you get a clutch lever that will push the microswitch and make sure to not lose the little black plastic piece that may or may not fall out when you are replacing the brake lever.
However I should say that I like the feel of the APTC and found it satisfactory even in stock trim. I think it's quite easily modulated and smooth.

My M620 is the same way. So far I've just got used to it rather than trying to put much effort into "fixing" it. When I'm riding it a lot I adapt and don't notice it but having more than one bike the problem I have is re-adapting when switching from another bike. Once or twice leaving a light I let the clutch out and nothing happened and thinking I'm somehow in neutral I started stomping around on the shift lever only to realize that I just didn't let the clutch lever out far enough.
