Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: swampduc on June 04, 2009, 01:50:44 PM Sweet! I've ridden one of those on the track and it was a blast. The light weight and low hp make it very tolerant of mistakes - although they can still be crashed. Right, Spidey? [cheeky]
Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: Betty Rage on June 04, 2009, 01:54:21 PM It still had the stock tires on it until this afternoon, bought some newer better ones and it should ride pretty smooth now.

[laugh] Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: Spidey on June 05, 2009, 12:49:14 PM aint that the truth. [moto] There are *some* things that one can do a motorcycle that *seem* like they'd be better than track riding. They're not. ;D Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: Spidey on June 05, 2009, 12:54:45 PM You'll have a blast, Neenja Mastah. [thumbsup]
Don't try to go fast. Seriously. You'll end up going fast if you try not to. If you try to go fast, you won't. It's weird. Tape your key in your ignition the night before. Don't forget your helmet (you wouldn't be the first). And use two laps each session to *gingerly* warm up your tires. If you have an 250-specific questions, fire away. You runnin' Dunlop 501s? Also, if you've got time, I'd suggest picking up some EBC HH brake pads. They're like $25 and make a big difference. You can haul ass on a 250. On a 250, I passed Doug Chandler when he was on a literbike. Twice in one day. True story (I *may* have left out some salient details). I'm excited. ;D I probably won't go too fast, I am a pretty cautious person when I'm trying something new. I'm really level-headed so that will be good for the track. Good advice about warming the tires, I hadn't thought about that. I know they do one hot lap for the same reason but since it's not a race I'll do two. [thumbsup] I'm actually running Pirelli Sport Demons. They were recommended by our local race bike shop. Hopefully they will work just fine. :) Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: gm2 on June 05, 2009, 01:03:10 PM Don't try to go fast. Seriously. You'll end up going fast if you try not to. If you try to go fast, you won't. It's weird. aint that also the truth.. possibly the single most important thing you can do out there is relax. fer realz. last time out my best/fastest session was the first one that i had a new video camera mounted: i spent the whole session thinking about camera angles, whether or not it was going to fall off the bike, blah blah rather than my riding. Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: x136 on June 12, 2009, 12:02:45 PM Very cool, NM. I'll be interested to hear your experiences. I'm hoping to take my own 250 (same tires, even) to the track sometime this year.
Title: Re: My first track day EVER coming up Post by: Goduc on June 14, 2009, 07:51:35 PM Have fun and think very hard about what you know to do. If you find yourself going into a turn too hot, look across the turn and dont fixate on the edge of the track. You go where you look. Most of all HAVE FUN!!! [clap]
