Everyone has a favourite sound.
I have enjoyed live acoustic sessions by numerous bands over the years. I've occasionally been lucky enough to have lovely things whispered into my ear on a cold winter night... I love the sound of a packed stadium erupting as their favourite sporting team scores.
...but I recently heard something that sticks in my mind as the most mind-numbingly spectacular sound that I have ever heard... my S4RS on a closed track in top gear at a little over 9000rpm with my helmet an inch from the tank. The combination of the 50mm Termi system along with the induction roar of the open airbox was pure porn for the eardrums.
You can't describe it, you certainly can't duplicate it in a Youtube video. The sensory overload kept a grin on my face for an eternity afterwards.
I love this bike!!!!!!!
Q777, I have the same feeling as you.
I have had my S4Rs for a month or two and just did a track day.
Open Air Box and fat 70mm Titanium/Carbon Akrapovic system at plus 240klm/h
Nothing better. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I can describe it....it hurts! Without ear plugs anyway. My open airbox rattles my ears painfully above 7500 or so
I think it sounds like a choir of demons serenading Satan.
Music to my ears.. [evil]
30 ducs ripping it through a tunnel on the fwy....
:)
The D16 is easily (to me) the sweetest sounding bike out there. Wish I could afford one and the track days to learn how to ride it... [moto]

Yowzah!! [thumbsup]
i think any of the ducatis with termi pipes on them sound great at full throttle wide open, its that cadence of the firingorder that just sound great.
The 100+ Ducati bikes in the procession from San Francisco to La Honda for 'La Ducati Day'.
Not to steal your one-bike thunder Q777, but there's nothing like over 100 Desmo powered bikes rolling down the highway.
Mmmmmm......

You, too? Oh, man, I'm not alone! I think the Termi's have a little more "refined" sound, perhaps more traditional to Ducati. But I went with the CF Arrows really because of the pipe geometry (no right heel interference - I have a big foot), and I have no regrets whatsoever.
Sure, I love the overall sound just when running and revving, but when decelerating with the engine under load and those suckers are popping and backfiring? Ooooh, those backfires are just auditory cocaine; I can't get enough (not that I know first hand what coke is like - just guessing here). Yes, true sign of an addict: sometimes, like a true idiot, I will accelerate, then slow down, acclerate, do a slam downshift, you get the picture. Just to hear those luscious backfires.
Excuse me, I need a cigarette now . . .
I've got a 999 with a full Termi system and it sucks compared to any of my air cooled two valve Ducs with Termis or a good Tamburini with their twin mufflers. The 999 box muffler just neuters all the good noises. The twin pipe Ducs (2 or 4 valvers) just sound awesome! [clap] [thumbsup]
