Title: Trailer Mishap!
Post by: wayne800 on June 05, 2009, 08:45:03 PM
Had a little misfortune the other day while towing the Ducati. Anyway, it all worked out OK in the end (sort of) but the upshot is I'm in the market for a new trailer. I really want a box trailer to cart stuff to the tip, pick up wood etc. but occasionally cart the Bike around as well.

So I am thinking of a 7 ft. box trailer - it's long enough (just) & have it fitted with a removal bike channel (a bit like photo 026 in the below website except I only want one in the middle):

Been to two companies & costs for this sort of thing in heavy duty, spare wheel and new tyres + NSW rego & the bike channel are around $1,170 which I think is OK.

I guess I've got two questions:

- Has anyone tried this arrangement & what did you think - good idea or just a pain in the butt; and
- Anyone had any good experiences with trailer companies on the south side of Sydney?

Cheers

From past experience with a trailer builder called TNT Engineering from Narellen, do not use them if there still in business   [bang]

You get yourself a standard 7 X4 trailer and get some  ally channel (Some bike shops sell the stuff) and drill some holes in it and corresponding ones in the trailer and have it as a bolt in/unbolt  in affair. [thumbsup]

Had this sort of thing before, the best of both worlds.  ;D
