Title: <>::Weekend Ride::<>::Saturday, May 24th, 2008::<> Post by: TCK! on May 19, 2008, 11:42:03 AM Well it's a Holiday weekend, so you know what that means... Tourist... So there will be tourist heading up the Coast in the North Bay, they'll be heading down the coast in the South Bay, they'll be camping all along redwood in the East Bay... But you know where tourist won't be... on Mines.
Ride Map Can Be Found Here: Yes Here. Click Me Now (http://tinyurl.com/6khwja) The Jist, 85 Miles, Start In Livermore Finish in San Jose. Roads Include But Are Not Limited To, Mines, Mt. Hamilton and Kincaid. Meet at Vasco Starbucks, 9:00am, kickstands up 9:30am For Those Unfamiliar With Kincaid, As I Am, Here's A Little Write Up I Found: Quote nooooooooo, it was horrible!!!!! no one should go there, it's a death trap!!! huge bumps, potholes, dirt, mudslides, tornadoes, hillbillies with semi-auto shotguns, wild nasty ass monkeys that swing down and steal you key as your ride along at 4 mph trying to dodge the child-eating field rats who are running from the crazy looking 12' over-grown attack rattle snakes coiled in the bushes just waiting for you to come near as you slow to peer out over the waste land that used to be a 45 acre nuclear facility but now all that remains are these venomous creatures crawling out of a bottomless thick oozing tar like substance bubbling out of a small river which coincidently has a rafting tour (for a piddling fee of $3.86 per person) that runs it 3 times a day on weekends and once during the evening twilight hours on evenings with a beautiful full moon giving the trees an ominous glow as if unicorns could come jumping out at any minute, but thats silly cause everyone knows the last unicorn in that area was killed 5 months ago in a tragic hang gliding accident, although it's rumored that she mated twice, not just the one documented time where the lil one was auctioned off on ebay and purchased by a rock farmer in Bangladesh, who interesting enough started out as a pebble retailer for a large chain restaurant (they used it as cheap filler in pot pies) but then branched out when he needed some quick cash as one of his 16 kids fell ill and needed a thumbnail transplant at the local train station/hospital due to an infection in his left eyebrow spreading down his leg. Now for those not familiar with Mines and Mt. Hamilton, it's going to be dirty, but luckily the dirt will only be on tight blind right handers and hidden in the shade as well as the same color as the asphalt. It's going to be HOT, not matter what the rest of the Bay Area is temperature wise Mines will be hot, hydrate the NIGHT before. Mt. Hamilton will take us to the Lick Observatory. This road consist of tight off camber decreasing radius 180 deg switch backs that are difficult at best. This road also has cattle grates conveniently tucked away in the middle of turns. So with all that said, the ride is going to be long, and you're going to be throwing your bike around a lot. Please take that into consideration when you sign up. The pace is going to spirited, but not over the top; however, this will be a NO CRASHING ALLOWED RIDE. Ride your own ride, keep your own pace. As before, please self tech inspect your rides. Title: Re: <>::Weekend Ride::<>::Saturday, May 24th, 2008::<> Post by: ro-monster on May 19, 2008, 02:06:24 PM I love Mines and Mt. Hamilton. I've only done them on my DR650 so far though. I may have to work, but if not, this would be a fun ride. You'd have to do a lot of waiting for me though, my pace isn't exactly spirited. If that bothers you I won't join you.

Nope that's fine! :D I just don't want people trying to keep up to a pace they don't feel good about. I wait and I do headlight counts so it's all good. :DTitle: Re: <>::Weekend Ride::<>::Saturday, May 24th, 2008::<> Post by: eviltwin on May 19, 2008, 02:39:43 PM If I'm not out of town on a moto trip, I will join in and will most likely be bringing a 2nd on a daytona (girly). I love mines, don't like Mt Ham so much (on my 749) never done Kinkaid. But I have dealt with stray bulls, snakes and vulchers on Del Puerto so it should be no big deal. :o

So lets just keep it 9am... might get some of these fence riders to make a decision.
I'm up for just riding with whom ever just shows up but I also will more strongly enforce the 9:30am start time. Title: Re: <>::Weekend Ride::<>::Saturday, May 24th, 2008::<> Post by: Reddymon on May 22, 2008, 04:30:23 PM I'm in for 9. I just did not want to wake before dawn and drink enough coffee to get coherent just so I could ride for an hour in the early morning mist to make the start of a 7:00am ride. Go ahead, call me a wus. :P

I've got a horrible cold, too, if anyone cares. Title: Re: <>::Weekend Ride::<>::Saturday, May 24th, 2008::<> Post by: TCK! on May 23, 2008, 08:01:42 PM I hope you guys are hydrating :D
