Title: 1st Annual Bill Bowen Memorial Ride to Barbie Fritchie Classic
Post by: twolanefun on June 08, 2009, 05:57:48 PM
Testing the waters. Event is 7/4 and I know a bunch of folks leave town. This will be a scenic ride led by yours truly and I might just be able to plot a good route. The destination is a Flat Track race in Frederick Maryland, the oldest running, 86 years, race in America and the event that Bill was headed to with Nora and I when he said goodbye to this wonderful land of ours. Participants will have to make a donation of $25, you get a great route sheet, and a Pin with proceeds after expenses going to HFH. We start in Reston, then out some back roads to ride by the site, maybe for a dedication of something special, donated by some special people if it is finished. If not we will still ride by the site, stop for a few minutes, then head up some back roads to Frederick. This is a scenic ride, I will be riding my Sportcruiser a bike that Bill fell in Love with after riding mine and bought one for himself and the bike he was on that fateful day. It is a capable back road bike and the perfect bike for this event. If you can make it and want to go please RSVP to 2vtwin@comcast.net. Thanks for taking the time to read this post. - Gene
