OMG. Just ran across this on the tv. Build a dome "over Houston" (that right there is hilarious), because we have Hurricanes, heat and humidity. Erm. I want some of what they were smokin.
So funny I put it in the wrong area.
Nice engineering for somewhere, but seriously Houston?
Houston is worth saving?
;D

No its not. I lived there for three months. The only cool people that live in Houston are DMFers.

That's funny. The Austin folks tell me the same about you. [cheeky]
that pic in the link looks like Boston, not Houston.
I figured the dome would be to keep the Houstonians in. I mean-we could always fill it with water, or turn it into a giant thunderdome-"1,000,000 enter, one man leaves!" sort of thing. We could videotape it and play it on tv.
C'mon guys be positive! There has to be a use for Houston in some way shape or form.
You're right Mr. Inc.
Think positive, think positive....umm, something useful for Houston, okay......umm, something Houston can do.....ummm. BINGO!
Maybe Houston can spend a bunch of taxpayer $$ and, and send the state into bankruptcy? Oh wait, I think Cali has that covered. :-X

I'm not picky. They could flip coins.
how bout both?
would vaccuum and overpressure cancel each other out?
drop one of each and maybe it would spit Houston into a different space/time
Need a treky to answer this question
TREKKIEs
are youz out there?
Talk shit all you want, but at least here in Houston we all still have jobs...
Except for me that is.
you guys are forgetting about the oil refineries that are in huston.
i want them saved.
but only if saving them will make gas cheaper...if not then i don't really care for houston.
i am wondering just how sweltering it will be under that dome on a nice typical summer day. i'm sure the humidity will be dealth with perfectly. [laugh]
As an employee of a company that makes dehumidifiers, I wholeheartedly approve of this plan. Let the Doming begin!
This reminds me of the Simpsons movie...

"Since it's not possible to stop the life in Houston to build the Dome and army of dirigibles will be used to complete the construction."
Oh. Just an army of dirigibles. That problem is totally solved.
Sure, guys, dome up a city in the MOST HEAVILY ARMED STATE IN THE UNION for military purposes. Come on over, west coast hippies, we won't shoot [evil]

This sounds like a story from The Onion! [laugh] [laugh]
As someone who works in the heavy civil construction industry I have to say that this plan sounds downright silly!
