Title: Opinion wanted!...
Post by: Duc-Duc-goose on June 10, 2009, 01:37:19 AM
My brother in law sister has a, and forgive me, 07 ninja 250... Mainly for gas mileage and cheappp! Has 1800 miles and nothing wrong, she wants $2400, is that worth it?! I thought it was a good deal, opinions wanted--- still awaiting my 620 Dark:(

2400 is not bad at all for that bike.  They are in pretty high demand due to the low cost and fun factor.  I just had a friend sell his 08 Ninja 250 with 5000+ miles for $3000 and it went on the same day he put it up for sale.

Nothing wrong with a ninja 250.  They are great bikes.

the DMF is pretty fond of the little ninja...you won't get criticized here for it.    When you are done with it you can either sell it for what you paid, or start beating the snot out of it on the track.

Buy it. When you get your duc, take the twofiddy and track the crap out of it.

I had a 250 ninja as my first bike and wish I had it back. It was super fun to thrash on and a great learner.  I would recommend any new rider to grab one as a first bike.

I almost bought an older Two Fiddy from a relative.  She was selling it for ~$1750 ($150 more than she originally paid for it)  and asked me to help her do a nice ad on Craigslist.  I thought it would be a great learner bike for Wifey, but she wasn't interested and I let it go.  [roll]  [bang]

Of course, the ad got 3 serious responses within 90 minutes of posting on CL and the buyer paid cash 48 hours later.

Moral of the story:  If you're interested in buying this lil' Ninja, do it.  If you want to sell it later, you'll have no problem unloading it and the resale values are excellent.

just my two cents here, obviously they are great bikes...
but you get the new redesigned (and sweet looking) '09 Ninja 250 out the door for around $3600.. that's like $1000 more than where your at, for a NEW bike, probably with a warranty, and a better looking design.

Not sure where you live, but if you can get an '09 Ninja out the door for ~$3600 that would be a helluva deal.  MSRP is $3999-$4099, and I don't know of any dealers who have trouble selling them at or near MSRP.  If they have them in stock.

(Kawi dealers typically sell out their Ninja 250 allocations by mid-June)

Thanks for all advice, I had exact same thoughts on resale value... 09 ninjette is 3999 msrp, where I'm located, Joplin, MO, they wanna and WILL charge more like 4700 with "taxes and freight fees", so 09 is out when I could drop 4700 on used monster! Jees, there are no monsters in the Midwest!! Arrg

The '07 is the old body style, but is otherwise sound, and the make fantastic track bikes. They're hard to get yourself in trouble on (as far as the throttle goes), and the light weight makes 'em loads of fun in the turns.

It did. Because of high demand.

Makes you wonder why no one else seems to sell a small displacement sport bike.

To the OP, I'd buy it  [thumbsup]

It's a fair price particularly with the low miles.  Go for it.   [thumbsup]

My thoughts as well, My son sold his 07 for what he paid for it after riding it for a year (his first bike) 2400 is a good price. The only issue was that the carbs are a little touchy. The bike does not like to sit around

Funny u should mention the touchy carbs, just found out today..."I have to turn the choke up and let it idle because it won't run", my thought EXACTLY on carb adjustment, but, that shouldn't be a big deal, just spin a couple screws  :)

Duc, as the others have stated, that is a fair price and you can ride it for a year, get some experience, and sell it for close to what you paid for it. By the way, there is a sport riders group down by you (Springfield). Here is there forum site: http://www.swmosportbikes.com/forum/vbadvanced_home.php (http://www.swmosportbikes.com/forum/vbadvanced_home.php)  Or you can chat with us mid Missouri riders at www.midmoriders.com (//http://)

Take that 250 down to Hallet!

I'd do a valve adjustment before I started messing with the carbs.  Valves on the 250 go out of whack really easily and after not that many miles.  The adjustments/checks are really easy to do, but you have to stay on top of them or the bike will quickly start running like crap.  Check out ninja250.org.  The FAQs there are great.
