Title: Matty's mods have commenced
Post by: mattyvas on June 11, 2009, 04:20:44 AM
First big change as you can see I've had a little paint job done on the wheels.
Jay from Dapto has done a cracker job on the wheels.

So far I am on my second set of indicators, these are some from a great Italian shop I have found via another Ducatist.
Tail light came from the same place, there is a little sprocket work to be done tomorrow.
Overall I am stoked with the change in tone of the bike and am planning the next items to be go under Jay's spray gun.

Of course I'll do some better pics over the weekend, these are just a couple of quick ones straight after the wheels went on.

looking purdy so far Matty.  Gold wheels are nice.  Be interesting to see how dirty they get (I'm very slack when it comes to cleaning my bike!).

I think the rear light is much more form flatterinf (to the sweep of the rear cowl) then the standard rectangular one. well done!

the rear end lights look very 749/999 style!

The tail light and indicators came from Omnia Racling (http://www.omniaracing.com/english/homepage.htm)
If you click the link page and go to there Ebay store it works better than the website.

I didn't give them a wipe with tar & bug remover when I washed it this week!
Really I didn't!

The gold is something I saw on a friends Multi and said I'll have that thanks very much.
It's somewhere between the bronze-gold Ducati is doing right now and Ohlins gold forks.

As for what I'm doing next the list is long, I just can't decide what to do.

Clip ons
rear sets
fluid tanks
triple clamps

just to name a few, there are a few other sneaky things I'm thinking about also.

I saw an M1100 with clip-ons but the riding position seems to much of a wrist/back breaker. Although it does look very cool!

How do you find ridingin the rain/dirt with the tail chop? Do you get crap flung up your back or is it ok? For example would riding on a day like today be an issue?

fluid tanks ??????????

Matty, are you referring to brake / clutch reservoirs or have you found some way to get more fuel in the best!!! I ran out of fuel AGAIN on Tuesday night be it only 500m from home and a petrol station.

[roll] Dannog don't you have an annoying orange light on your dash when you need to get fuel?  I have the annoying light and my temp readout flashes FUEL. Kinda feel like I'm being nagged so I get rid of the signs as soon as humanly possible.  But I do get 260km out of a tank on a good day.  Sorry had to mention that.  [cheeky]

SG, the clip-ons I am looking at have either 2.5" or 3.5" rise so it would be as much of a killer as having them without
any rise, I am looking for slightly more forward angle and opening up the dash area.
As to riding on a day like this, I just don't. My bike is not really used as work transport.
The times I did get caught in the rain on the old 620 it was never a problem, you get wet anyways so if you get a bit of
fling up your back (never did myself) oh well.

Dannog yes Rizoma fluid tanks is what I am talking about. And as Heather says you do have a little orange light which on an S4Rs is something to be obeyed more than on a 2V

Yeh Yeh I know but the blooddy thing comes on every second day. Something about ignoring it doesn't work! [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang] [bang]

It's just a real pisser that I have to call in to filler up every 110 Km I'm thinking of setting up a filling point at home so that I can top-up before leaving for work

110kms - bummer.   You have my empathy Dannog.  If you ride evey day sounds like the filling station at home idea may be a good one although pushing the bike to the servo once week could double as a gym session I guess.  [laugh]   [thumbsup]

SWMBO would go for the gym idea. Always complains that I don't get there enough.

Which clip-ons are you looking at Matty? You've mentioned the Tall-boys, but which ones have 2.5" rise?

hey heather....

the s*R series has a new function compared to our m1000.....soon as the fuel light comes on....a trip computer on the left panel starts up....so you know how far you've ridden on the reserve.....how frickin cool is THAT!

and they still run out of fuel!

all hail the 992 mill

Gee Dannog just 110k's I usually see 130-140 before the light comes on and that's a blast on the weekend.
You must use a fair bit in commuting mode then. I'd be having myself a 20ltr can at home.

I'm looking at Swatt and also regular SpeedyMoto clip-ons, just a little up in the air at the moment.

You're looking at getting clip ons when you had risers fitted on your 620? With the bars you had on it?

I don't get it.

Very different seating ergo's on the S4Rs compared to the 620.
The 620 is like sitting in a couch, knees up and arms up.
S4Rs is closer to SBK.
