Here's what was posted about it:
This limited-edition Ducati Monster motorcycle is the latest addition to Christian Audigier's line of customized vehicles, inspired by his impeccable taste for fashion and high-end lifestyle. The Ducati Monster 1100 takes motorcycle art to a whole new level with its vibrant and colorful tattoo-inspired design. The tattooed art is a mixture of airbrush and vinyl. The gas tank features a detailed gold leaf that has been carefully laid and then brushed to give it a distinctive “fish scale†look. “The Monster platform has been used extensively as a platform for personalization so naturally Ducati was excited to see what a fashion icon like Christian Audigier could do with the bike,†said Michael Lock, CEO of Ducati North America. The limited edition motorcycle retails for $55,000.
[laugh]
P.S. Search for "douchebag". You should find the prior threads about it.
I could barf on a bike too and charge $55,000.
Taking pre order's now. Limited run of 10 bikes.

Ok... Three things.
1) The douche-bag who posted the pics of his 'full custom bikes' has since deleted his posts and deleted his account.
2) Why the make the beast with two backs is a fashion icon accessorizing a motorcycle?
3) I don't charge enough...

I agree though that it's fugly.

wow, didn't mean to get people so agitated - I just thought I found something new that would be worth sharing.
If this turns into a hate thread I'll get rid of it.

I'm not angry Dave, just a little miffed and NOT at you.
Here we go again! Here are a couple of links to more pictures and info.

Although I know the builder (or "builder" according to some forum members), I am in no way associated with them nor is this posted as some kind of advertisement for them, the bike (not really my bag), or anything else that started or propagated the shit-storm that blew through last time this bike came up.
Don't bother trying to track down the original post, it is long gone...
Ok! Thanks for that Stew!
In any case, it's a Monster done custom and that's what we all love about Monsters (modding them).
I've seen plenty of Monsters done worse - the OCC bike for example - not my cup of tea, but it's still one to chalk up to the modding evolution of the Monster.
The sad part is that I'm sure there's lots of cool stuff about that bike that gets lost in all the the discussion (including by us, by rever corsa and by DNA's own marketing) of the gold leaf and the designer name. After all, we generally like seriously modded motorcycles.
the bike's not nearly as cool w/out the match-painted helmet and posing for the camera
:D
i loved the following article someone linked in last time this abomination showed up:
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/28/business/fi-ct-neil28 (http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/28/business/fi-ct-neil28)
apparently he loves to crap on quality products, here is another link:
http://lostinasupermarket.com/2009/01/lamborghini-murcielago-christian-audigier-edition-someone-seriously-deserves-to-get-castrated-for-this/ (http://lostinasupermarket.com/2009/01/lamborghini-murcielago-christian-audigier-edition-someone-seriously-deserves-to-get-castrated-for-this/)
Ok, what they did to that poor Lamborghini was shameful, but there's no accounting for taste. I suppose if there is an actual market for exemplars like these, which there seems to be or they wouldn't have done it in the first place, then the law of supply and demand kicks in. [roll] But look on the bright side: We'll know the squids and morons with too much money (who are compensating for their tiny little...tracts of land) riding or driving one of these vehicles right off the bat and be able to steer clear.
I'm just saying...

I agree with you. The difference is that your bike is a stunning work of art because: simplicity is the ultimate elegance. [thumbsup] Christian's bike goes out of it's way to scream, "Hey! Look at me! I have lots of money and I'm insecure and didn't get enough attention from my mommy so I need it from you!!!" [cheeky]
But seriously, you have a point. ;) We love our bikes and we love modding them and that's the way it is. We're always on the look out for new ideas. But I think the cool stuff on that bike gets lost in the over-the-top paint job and designer name. Bummer about that. Just my opinion. Feel free to ignore me. ;D
Who is this person?
I bought A Christian Audigier/Ed Hardy shirt at Costco having no idea who they are, I just like the motorcycle riding skeleton on the front. [cheeky]
Then I saw KBC sells Ed Hardy helmets (one of which I am going to buy soon)
THEN I see people talking about them here. (and on the deleted thread)
WHO ARE THEY?!
that lambo was ok until I saw the seats...
don ed hardy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Hardy) is a cool dude and tattoo god, who decided to make some shirts and stuff w/his flash designs.
the older stuff was just labelled 'ed hardy gear' or something to that effect, which is cool enough.
CA's name started creepin' in on the gear, and kinda took over, like cancer.
i threw up in my mouth a little the first time I saw a shirt tagged "ed hardy by christian audigier" like the artwork was suddenly his, or it takes some kind of genius to make a dang t shirt
Oh I see now.
I'll make sure not to wear the shirt if I ever meet you. ;D

I have a couple of the shirts, but that's about it.
He had done a lecture in HI a while ago that I went to... he was basically talking about his life, and tattoo, his influences and such. it was just about the time that first clothing line was coming out
I must say I liked both the bike and the Lambo. I know I may be in the minority on this one but both were cool. The price tag just to add his name and design is a bit over the top but other than that he gets a [thumbsup] [clap] from me.
Is it wrong of me to say I kindof liked the Lambo? ;D
I don't really like the skull or the seats but the rest of it is pretty cool, IMO.
''Limited Edition Christina Aguilera Monster' is how I mis-read the post title.... totally let down now. :(
On the upside, I hadn't actually seen the initial threads on this bike - so thanks to Dave for the derby. [beer]
As for the bike itself,... I for one think a naked bike should be kept as simple/functional as possible... tattoo the rider, by all means, but leave the bike alone!

My sentiments exactly. But somebody pointed out to each his own, which is also true. What I find amazing is that this guy paints something on these objects and then sells them for a surreal amount of money. This is certainly "talent", just not the kind I appreciate...

nah... if the seats were plain, I'd hit it ;D
forgive me I didn't ever see the 'old' thread.
But Ed Hardy sued/is sueing CA for using his name/brand without permission.

that would make it just a monster ;)
toxic
While not quite my cup o tea, it doesn't induce severe abdominal reactions. It's a little to bling blingy but definitely done very well from an artistic point. I don't really care about who the guy is, the bike does get attention. I would say that there are quite a lot of people that ride Ducatis for that same reason. This just goes way over the top. I've seen some much more poorly modded monsters but then again they weren't asking 55grand for them either.
I don't get why people who are into fashion and people who aren't have such an axe to grind w/ each other. If your into fashion thats cool and if your not thats just as cool. Heman here is a good analogy for you. Von Dutch is like Coke and Ed Hardy is like Pepsi. Anyways its just marketing.

Theres fashion and then theres lifestyle forced on by a perception of being cool. Theres a fine line there. There are people who buy things because the brand name is all over it so people will think they are cool.
there was a quote on one of the links stating, he made a new brand of wine, to introduce new wine drinkers. aka people who are dumb enough to follow his lifestyle.

Preface: Not directed at He Man, just a thought based on his post.I agree, but wouldn't it extend to the idea that:
You have a monster and you love it, and others like it, now because Christian Audiger (or anyone else who turns your crank) threw his name on it, you're hating on the bike, the builder, and everything else that happens to be caught in the crossfire.

hating? this is just good natured ribbing.. :) i feel sorry for the bike and i consider CA a snake oil salesman. if there is a moron who pays 55K for a bike which is 12K without that ugly painting - so be it...
OK, so again this thread was never supposed or intended to turn negative. Please focus on the creativity of modding and custom work of our Monsters that we like to do so much.

Sorry for the double post but my post box was turning everything into a quote.
But, yeah I agree with you that is the saddest part about it, big corporations making money by exploiting peoples self consciousness. I see people riding motorcycles for the same exact reason, then they go and sell the bike after a few months so they could say "yeah I used to ride" ... please.
