Title: How hot is too hot? Post by: Ranger06 on June 13, 2009, 06:44:10 AM I know 695's run hot, especially here in NC in the summer. What temps do you guys regularly see? I recently hit about 270 on the highway headed to Raleigh. I'm not running an oil cooler, how much do they help? The stock cans are cored though, does that make a difference?
Thanks Title: Re: How hot is too hot? Post by: Howie on June 13, 2009, 10:12:28 AM Too hot, according to Ducati, is 338o. An oil cooler will significantly lower your temperature at speed, not so much in traffic. On a 695 your cored pipes will not make a difference.
Title: Re: How hot is too hot? Post by: somegirl on June 13, 2009, 10:51:44 AM I often run at 240-250F without issue.

and +1 on the oil cooler Title: Re: How hot is too hot? Post by: Ranger06 on June 13, 2009, 07:02:37 PM Thanks all. I guess the only reason I bring it up is because there is a little blistering right where the exhaust mates up. The tech pointed it out to me during my last service and said I was running way too hot. I think that was his pitch to justify selling me a DP computer...which I want, but don't have the cash for now ;D

Post by: Scotzman on June 13, 2009, 08:49:20 PM In sunny San Diego I normally get to 250-260 after about 30 mins on the freeway, so....I don't know if the type of oil you're using will make any difference as well.

I seem to recall that Title: Re: How hot is too hot? Post by: Paegelow on June 14, 2009, 08:05:32 PM Not flaky, the paint melts and turns brown around the exhaust port. Mine did, I got new heads on warranty (!!!), and I added a Termi kit with the DP ECU. That helped but the paint melted again within a month! [bang]
