Title: Can one "cut" CF Arrow cans? Post by: RavnMonster on June 15, 2009, 09:47:45 AM I see a lot of folks with the sortened exhaust cans. It looks awesome. i have the Arrows on my bike and was wondering if its possible to cut these down any? If so how do they come apart? what do i need to know before getting into that job?

Post by: scduc on June 15, 2009, 02:17:45 PM The most important part is to be extremely careful when cutting the carbon fiber. It will have a tendancy to fray/crack. I would suggest using masking tape. something that does not leave a residue. I wouldn't think you use tin snips or any thing like that. Maybe you could use a cut-off wheel on a dremel.

Post by: booger on June 16, 2009, 04:59:23 AM It seems to me, although I have Termis and not Arrows, that the Arrows are slightly conical, which means if you chop them too much, the resulting end diameter will end up being smaller than the endcap diameter. The endcaps are meant for the original end diameter of the full-length unchopped cans. Be sure and check that out. I wouldn't know a workaround for that kind of issue.

and I've seen a few ducs (here/TOB) that chopped arrows... oh, and for the rivets... I'd think stainless would be ok... Title: Re: Can one "cut" CF Arrow cans? Post by: booger on June 16, 2009, 09:15:56 AM S*R shotgun style Arrows look to be slightly conical. It's best to check beforehand. Also, SS rivets are great, but harder to drill back out than AL rivets(in case you need to replace packing). AL rivets incidentally are totally strong enough and cheaper.
