Title: The Creamcycle bike lives (Sort of)
Post by: Bun-bun on June 16, 2009, 01:55:13 PM
After the accident a couple weeks ago, I decided that rather than just fix what broke, I'd do a few "upgrades". So I spent the past two weeks surfing the net, placing orders, and tearing the bike down.
Parts are finally starting to arrive, and the rat should see the light of day by the end of the month.

And yes, pics will follow.

Popped the dents out of the tank (mostly). Tank and fender are at the painters. The tank'll get smoothed and filled, then both get base coat(s) and clear.
Found some sick tank decals online, they'll get applied after the base coat(s) and then get clearcoated.
Pegs are in the U.S. now, and should be here next week.
Mirrors are AWOL. In shipping maybe? Hopefully.

I've got parts from 3 different DMF bikes on it already. I might need a right rear turn signal. I've got one, but the lens screw is rusted. If I can drill it out without destroying it, I'm good. If not. I'll need one.
Now, however, I have parts to trade. Stock parts, but better than straight charity.

I will say, this bike is going to spark some controversy here when I unveil it. I doubt there'll be many who see it who'll be neutral. ;D

I've been meaning to put my aftermarket turn signals on for a while.   When I do you're welcome to the stock ones.

I've got some stock parts like singnals and even cans if needed.  They are from a 900, but should all bolt right up.  Signals would be easy to ship.. the cans are weighty (15-20 lbs each) so might not be worth shipping.

The pegs arrived early. Bike porn to follow.

I initiated a claim to get my money back from the graphics co, and called another company tonight and placed an order. Hopefully this one won't screw me.

Hi Jeff--sounds like the bike is coming along.  I'm going to be out of town until the 16th, but maybe we can hook up and go to Poe's the weekend I get back.  Maybe Dave and Will and Kris and anyone else who wants to join in can make it as well.  I'll ride down to meet you guys.

Can't wait to see the pics. . .hopefully sans reflectors  ;D

Mike, Sounds good.
Decals came in today. Thanks Eric(Eich) of Twisted Vinyl Graphics. I called him Friday night @7;00 and he had them in the mail Saturday morning! Now that's service!

Tank is STILL not painted. John says tomorrow for sure, and decals can go on Thursday. I'm headed out of town for the fourth, so hopefully I'll be riding soon after I get back.
Pics will be posted when there's progress made.
Jeff

The decals look great!  Especially the desmo on the tank.  Still not sure about the color, but I will leave final judgment until I see it on the bike in person.

[clap] [cheeky]
Until I saw it on the tank and fender, I was afraid it was going to be too close to Harley orange.

I showed up with it at Kris' house this morning, and got the lazy sod out of bed.

I love the color.  [clap] Orange and black look great together.  That color looks pretty close to my Shoei TZ-R.  A new helmet may be in order for you.....

The accident necessitated a new helmet and jacket, but I picked up both before I settled on the color.

Definately looks good off the bike though.  It will be easy to spot you for sure.

That's a nice jacket.  I say you make the helmet a passneger lid and grab a safetry orange Shoei...or not.

Again,  [thumbsup].  I love seeing people make an opportunity of an accident.

Ride it?
And maybe mess it up?
No no no, I'm just going to LOOK at it!
;D

Seriously, I've got the day off tomorrow, and it's going out for a ride. Also, I'm riding to the motorcycle exhibit Saturday, and I'm going to make the effort to get up early Sunday and go with the Redline folks.
Believe me, it's going to see some seat time.
