On my way in to work this morning some DUMBASS decided to ignore a stop sign where the road he was on intersected into a sweeping left curve that i was taking at aprox 50 mph. I could literally read the logo on the make the beast with two backsing coffee cup he was sticking to his lips as he left me nowhere to go except the ditch line. And when he saw me lowside he gassed on it and hauled ass away. >:(
Luckily my gear did it's job and i came away with only minor road rash on my left knee. The bike on the other hand is going to need a lot of TLC.
Another thing that really sucks is that i slid to a stop in the middle of some guys lawn only 2 or 3 feet from a brand new ford truck and no one even came outside to see what was going on. I checked myself and the bike out right there. Determined that i could get it back home and left. Not a soul on earth offered assistance. >:(

Not that it helps your case, recently I was downtown for dinner with some friends and saw an asshole in a taxi just decide to exit in the middle of the road in the middle lane. Well, here comes a bike lanesharing and the ass opens the door right in front of the bike.
Sandwiching him in between another car and smashing his hand in between the door and bike. Traffic was heavy I parked my car in the middle lane my buddy gets the bike and I help the very shaken/injured rider to the curb.
I go back to my car get some bandages/alcohol/etc.. help calm this guy down, makes sure he has my contact info. Tell the passenger what an asshole he is and my buddy follows suit. Then when I feel things are stable and the popo shows up I decide to move my car.
A lot of times people don't realize what has or is happening.
Some are just stupid.
Man, that's bullshit. Of course, glad you are pretty much o.k. I've got 4 stock blinkers and some other parts so PM me if you want.

Exactly what I was thinking. Except the last part. File a police report and then stake him out. Find where he lives then see if the police will be willing to help. If not then more drastic measures. So glad your okay though. That's what's important.

I'm so sorry to hear this that is absolutely horrible, hope you are ok! Just relax and i agree you should file a police report and stake out that area and see if the guy comes by again. Get his plates and information etc. I think a hit and run is a felony correct?

I've been bustin my ass trying to get this thing ready for show and tell at DIMBY in Sept and now this happens.
I've cooled off and taken another look to determine the extent of the damage.
Here's the lowdown.
Handle bars and left hand controls are FUBAR, Good time to look into those clipons i've been wanting. Will need levers as well.
Three of the four turn signals are broken, also have replacements/upgrades in mind. ;)
Left side rearset/exhaust hanger is shot. Replacement already in the works. (thks rule62)
Will need a complete shift lever and linkage assy.
Tank has a new "character" dent that will need repaired.
Now.......If anyone happens to know someone that paints ducs. Not to be naming names (cough)ducpainter(cough). I could use with thier services. ;D

if he steered you off the road either intentionally or unintentionally, it is a failure to maintain safe lookout and leaving the scene.
you're not required by law to be hit in order for it to be a "hit and run"

Unless medical bills need to be paid, I would not go that route. If you don't need the meical coverage about all you have to gain, since there are no witnesses, is a big rate hike and, if there is a collision claim, a total loss on that, IMO, well worth the effort to repair.
Unfortunately, it's not just cagers that have this type of brainfart. I was heading to the inspection station in my van to drop it off and pick up my truck (Long story), and saw this guy on a scooter at the intersection ahead. He's stopped at the stop sign, and this is a difficult intersection as there's a good bit of traffic on the road I'm on (Raby Rd.). I see him start to go, then hesitate as I come up on him, I know he saw me, he was looking right the hell at me. When I was maybe 20' away, going 35mph, he guns his little scooter and jumps out right in front of me. I already had my foot on the brake, cause somehow I just KNEW he was gonna do something completely STUPID!!!! but I still couldn't stop in time. even though I locked up the brakes and swerved, I clipped his back wheel, and sent him flying about 20'. His helmet came off when he hit the ground, because of course he didn't have the strap fastened, and his t-shirt and shorts did nothing to help him absorb the impact when he hit the pavement.
I stopped, called 911, waited for the cops, tried to help him, but he started yelling that I hit him, I aimed for him, yada yada. I pulled his scooter over to the side of the road, and told the cops what happened. He told the cops he was sitting at the stop sign, and I swerved to the right and hit him while he was stopped!
The cops start looking at me, and one starts asking me all kinds of questions, where I was going, did I have anything to drink today (Hell NO!), and the topper, did I have anything against motorcycles?! [laugh]
It was not looking too good for me when a guy came across the road from the battery store on the corner and said he had been talking with a customer and saw the whole thing, and did the cops want a statement. After he basically repeated my story word for word, the cops did an about face, cited scooterboy for failing to yield right of way, and asked me if I wanted his info for my insurance company.
Since I was driving a diesel truck, and he didn't so much as scratch my bumper, I declined, and ten minutes later I was on my way, shaken, but not in stir!
I feel bad for scooterboy, but shit, he nearly gave me a heart attack, then almost got me arrested, so I hope he's basically healthy, and that his roadrash hurts lkike a pregnant dog.
Unfortunately, an insurance claim is out.
My insurance company would only let me have liability coverage due to a salvage title. They would happily repair the lawn i tore to hell, but my bike is mine to deal with.
I've recieved and sent several PM's and the rebuild is getting under way. It will be far far better than before. I'm determined to make it worthy of the BOMB someday. [thumbsup]

I crashed 3 weeks ago (bike totalled), still healing..but there is a new (used) bike in the garage just waiting for me to ride [thumbsup] wish I was a fast healer...

Ok, here's an update.
It's been a few days and i've been busy as hell. I've been lucky enough to be working 12 to 15 hr days. WAY better than the 24 to 32 hr weeks i've been getting since December, money wise anyway.
It's going to come in handy to finish this little project.
