ok, so heres one of the last bugs i need to work out of my bike build. i took my 2001 M600, and put a 96 M900 motor into it. now my tach does not work. i kinda figured it wouldnt, as i believe the older motors used a mechanical tach and my newer motor/guages used a tach that ran off the coils maybe? now, i dont have to have the tach obviously, but it would be nice if i could get it to work. any ideas? fyi, i used my original wiring harness with the donor motor.
I can't think of a reason the tach shouldn't work.
My 96 tach runs off the ignitor boxes/coil just like your M600 did.
Check the wiring.
hmm. i was kinda wondering about that. what wiring should i check first? the coils? i hate electrical stuff cause i suck at it. right now i just have my 2phase alternator hooked up to 2 wires of my 3phase regulator...hope that works long term and doesnt burn it all up...

Yes...and then the other end at the tach.
it could be as simple as a loose wire. Electrical diagnosis is tough, but don't be afraid. ;D
My 96 didn't have a tach and I wired it in to the ignitor harness.
You do have the Kokusan (small black boxes on the battery box) boxes correct?
Lot's of people have done that with the reg/rec without issues.
ok, i will check it out...yep i have the black boxes on the airbox. thanks for your input! hopefully its something simple.
