Title: Oil "puff" front cylinder S2R 1000
Post by: HuDuc on June 23, 2009, 03:25:00 PM
Sometimes I get some smoke coming from the front Cylinder. I looked and didn't see any oil leaks. Bike still under warranty until 12/2009 it used 1 qt oil in 1000 miles. Is this normal for a Duc?

That kind of oil consumption is kind of high for such a new bike IMO.

Where are you seeing the puff?

Normally when at idle when bike is hot. smoke puffs in front but not often. I looked everywhere and can not find any leaks. Bike has 1800 miles so it's practically new.

The S2R1Ks have had some valve guide issues.

I'd get it in to the dealer and let them know about the issue.

FTR I don't know if the puff is a related issue to the consumption or not.

You may have a small exhaust leak too.
