Title: shorter kickstand Post by: crashoverridem629 on June 23, 2009, 05:40:32 PM looking for an option other than cutting and re welding a kick stand for a lowered monster its an 06 s2r800 any input would be great. with it lowered it stands the bike almost strait up and i have to pay attention to where i park.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: redxblack on June 23, 2009, 06:47:01 PM I wonder if a center stand would be a good fit for you.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: crashoverridem629 on June 23, 2009, 07:02:56 PM any ideas where i could get one ?
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: MotoCreations on June 23, 2009, 07:13:28 PM You might have some problems with the "udder" on your S2R800 and the factory (ST2) centerstand setup. Somebody else will have to confirm who has installed one. Also the left side brackets probably won't work with the S2R series rearsets as well -- the sidestand mounting brackets shim everything out if I remember correctly. (S2R use the swingarm pivot bolt and that can't be shimmed outward) Also the rear connector bolt location for the centerstand is used by the left rear exhaust figure-8 bracket and thus you'd have to change/modify as well.
The sidestand easily cuts and welds via TIG. Just don't weld the kickstand on the bike without disconnecting the battery and ECU setup -- both can get fried pretty easily. (hint: welding back together while off the bike is best) Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: mmakay on June 24, 2009, 05:31:41 AM I've got a shortened stand from a 695 I'll sell for a fair price. It's the steel style, not the aluminum one used on the S2R. I think they interchange, though.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: DucMouse the Mighty on June 24, 2009, 06:26:29 AM why do u not wana cut the stand? just curious...
i cut the stand on both my bikes before cause i have my bike lowered also and i have had no problems, actually its so much better. my 0.02 cents Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: DarkStaR on June 24, 2009, 06:34:27 AM 695,620 kickstands are shorter. The bends on the stand are a bit different, so if possible, try to test fit one before buying.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: crashoverridem629 on June 25, 2009, 06:32:04 AM thanks guys ill deff look into a 620/695 stand
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: Latinbalar on June 26, 2009, 08:01:16 AM so if i have a 620 there isn't a shorter kickstand, guess im screwd. chopping and weld it is.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: mmakay on June 26, 2009, 11:52:31 AM My spare stand is a 695 that has been cut. If you want a very short stand I can sell it to you.
Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: cabron on May 09, 2010, 03:00:37 AM Sorry for being so lazy, I have just lowered the missus 620 by about 25-30mm (yes have corrected the steering angle to suit), however now on the stand, it is almost vertical. I am going to cut and shut the stand, however to save time trying to measure the angle / length of stand, how much length have others cut out of the stand? Trying to avoid cutting it twice, or worse too short......
Cheers Cabron Title: Re: shorter kickstand Post by: psycledelic on May 09, 2010, 03:26:30 AM My kickstand was one of the first modifications I did on my 06 S2R800. Really simple mod. All I did was constantly forget to put the stand up before starting off. It put a very nice bend in the stand. The initial contact with the ground is pretty abrasive and the jarring of the bike can played havoc on my nuts, but it's all about sacrifice and commitment. Just remember to stop the modding process a little sooner then I did, because my bike leans a little too far. I would offer up a trade, but I am expecting my stand to snap anytime now. I don't think you want any part of that.
