Title: Signals electrical issue HELP Post by: Valor on June 24, 2009, 04:06:54 AM I have a 2003 M620 with cheapie aftermarket signals.
On the way into work today, I noticed my right (front and rear) signals were lit up permanently. AND the turn signal indicator on the dash was lit. The turn signal switch was off. Tried flipping the turn signals on and off - still on. Tried turning the bike on and off - still on. Then I flipped the bike off and the right ones went off, but the LEFT ONES went on! By the time I got to work the plastic housing on two of the signals had melted. Fearing a fire issue, I disconnected all the signals ... The dash indicator stayed lit. Tried disconnecting power at the battery, hooked it back up and the dash light is still permanently on. Any ideas?? i would investigate the flasher... I can't recall if an '03 would have a thermal flasher unit, or an electronic flasher unit built into the dash. If it's a thermal one, it should be an easy fix... i'm certainly no expert on the matter, but it's worth a look i think except how would either flasher get fed with the key off? Hmmm, Where the heck is the flasher unit? I think that's one of the bikes with the flasher unit in the gauge cluster. I've been wrong before.Not one of Ducatis better ideas. Could be.Or it could be a bad key switch, or left hand switch unit. IIRC Ducati feeds power to the left hand switch and it is distributed to the headlight and signals from there. My real puzzlement is how is it getting power with the key off? You need a wiring diagram. Do you have one? Title: Re: Signals electrical issue HELP Post by: Valor on June 24, 2009, 08:53:07 AM Did a fair share of wiggling, inspecting, etc of the wires. I don't see anything rubbing or burning. I just wired a GPS to the rear tail light wire a month ago. Doesn't seem like that would cause all four signals and the dash light to stay on with the key removed. Drat, I think this might be one for a ride to the dealer.

But like I say, if your not up to it, then its a project in itself. That instrument cluster just scares me.

DO you think if I did a Red Key reset it might clear it up? Your flasher relay is in the instrument cluster. Disconnect the left hand switch and see what happens with the directionals. Is the dash doing anything else funny? Any fogging?
