Title: How to get Code info on a lost Code Card
Post by: musbos on June 25, 2009, 01:47:56 AM
Hi All;

Considering all options i may have to run my bike , i would ask you if it s possible to get the code information on a lost (previous owner lost it ) code card  (probably from Ducati Tech)?  Do any of you has an experience?

Also I have a metal plate tied to RED key with a 5-digit hex-decimal number (F5962). Do you have any idea what this number is? As far as know there are 2 codes on a code card, is this 5-digit number one of the codes(if so which one ?) or not ?
I already wrote a mail to tech@ducati.com requesting information about code and let you know as soon as i get a reply(probably 3 weeks later) :))))

thanks for your help,

I hate to break the bad news to you, but you're NEVER going to get a replacement code card.

In all the years that I've seen Ducati fvck up I mean use the immobilizer system. I've never heard/seen anyone ever get a replacement code card. Not even if the rightful owner were Michael Lock himself!

As far as the 5 digits go, that's the code to cut the key.

Carbs aint lookin too bad these days.

Well, the simple answer is, you cant get one. DNA doesnt keep track of the cards for replacement. As long as you have the red key, the procedure is in your owners manual. This was ducati's biggest blunders in technology,and did no favors in keeping owners happy. There is a link on the forum of a place that by passes the immobilizer. I believe its metroduc.

Not sure if you know this but if you have the red key you can use it to start the bike and make duplicates.  Why is it you're looking for the code card too?

hi all ;
:)))
So what is the point to write "for  part number and in case the card gets lost please refer to the owner's manual " back of the Code card.  I did refered but written nothing :))). I love the way Ducati is it is always unexpected and exciting :))) I will also apply to  European Customer Care Office :)..

I know and applied the procedure to reprogram new black keys, hope it worked fine but since my bike is not running even red key s used i had no chance to try newly programmed black keys.(when i insert black keys and turn ON the ignition, EOBD and imobilizer LED turns off and remains off, so i hope reprogramming is ok.)

Why i need the Code card is because it s needed to disable imoblizer and re enable it (both procedures). I cannot disable imobilizer without code card :(((
still hope to get a positive answer from Ducati Tech in Italy
thanks for you help

Yes, put the code card somewhere you can find it easier next time, and write the codes into your owners manual in case you lose it again.  ;D

Good thing you found it. As others have said, there is no possible way to retrieve or recover your code card number without the original card itself. Ducati keeps no records on these, or at least will not admit to the existence of any records.
