my gf was robbed at gun point in woodmere LI, luckily they took her purse and left, they caught the guys a few hours later.
one of my best friends was shot in the face while getting robbed walking to his car after dinner with his gf in the west village of manhattan, he is alive but not the same. bullet went thru his eye and out of his head :'( they found his shooter and get this ,he only got 13 years... its already been 7 years since this happend...

both my youngest brothers are living in brooklyn these days....
Its damn near impossible to own a gun in NYC, yet 69% of the killings had a firearm involved.
Black on Black murder is the leading scenario. Why? Mostly gang related, drug or domestic dispute.
Those are the two big stats.
