Title: ATGATT - going too far?
Post by: Q777 on July 02, 2009, 05:30:24 PM
Let me say from the outset that I am absolutely sure that I will never ride my Monster without all the safety gear, but I've just been caught going one step too far...

I came back from a ride about 25 minutes ago, and had realised that a carbon fiber Monster part was ending shortly on Ebay.  I jumped off the bike, and came straight in to the computer.  I was in a rush (and it's cooling down a bit here for winter), so I left all of my riding gear on.

A family member just walked in to the room to see me sitting in front of the computer with my riding helmet, jacket, pants, boots and gloves on.  They laughed, then shook their head thinking that I was trying to imitate The Stig from the UK show Top Gear.

I guess I do look pretty stupid, but at least I got my final bid in for the Ebay item.  And anyway, you can never have too much safety gear on...  ;D

That gear has some good mojo.  [clap]

If you geared up to move your bike from a parking space to the garage 20 feet away, then you'd be in a whole other category.

In NYC I used to wear a suit and tie just about everywhere and my casual attire was not much more casual.  My brother used to make fun of me when he would stop by my place and find me home alone, sitting in front of the computer wearing a sport jacket.  He said I was like Frankenstein.  No matter where he was or what he was doing, he always had that sport jacket on.

With all your safety gear on, you'd safe when you computer crash.   ;D

Sorry for the bad joke...  it's late and I do need some sleep.  :P

When I watch the GP races I always wear my Alpinestars GP tech gloves crossing fingers for Cassey  [popcorn]

The last time I "used" my helmet I was running to class with my shoelaces untied. Right as I got to the door I tripped and face planted. Would have had a nice bloody nose if I wasn't wearing my helmet.

the ebay was moto-related, I think that it's perfectly normal behaviour.

There is nothing wrong with always carrying a piece of your bike with you.. Either be it gear or your keys!

Did you get your CF from ebay?
If so you have now set the precedent you now must always wear full gear while surfing and bidding on fleebay.
