Title: keyboard issues
Post by: herm on July 02, 2009, 05:44:23 PM
for some reason, the leer "T" on my keyboard is acting up. more than half the time now, when i type hat leter, it does not ranslae to a yped letter.

this is getting to be more than annoying, as i find that i have to go back and check to make sure that when i type a t, that it actually ends up in the word it was supposed o. why couldnt this be happening with a leter like z?[bang]

any houghts?

Dude, make it type out once, highlight it, then just copy and paste as needed. Problem solved. Sort of.

I had the same problem with my laptop, except it was the letter "s".

You can't pop out the letters, it is one solid piece.  I had to get it replaced.

In the interim, I either plugged in an external keyboard, or copy-pasted from a small text file I kept on my desktop with "S" and "s".

The should be an " ALT " plus 4 numbers that will give you the t. I did a quick google and didn't find it.
Here are some alt key examples.
alt + 0128 = â,¬ = Euro
alt + 0163 = £ = British Pound
alt + 0165 = ¥ = Japanese Yen
alt + 0223 = ß = German double esses
alt + 0252 = ü
alt + 0228 = ä

Ask and you shall recieve.
Hold down the alt key and type 0116 and you get t when you relase the alt key.
Alt + 84 yields T.  Only works on a seperate number key pad, I tried with the 1/!, 2/@,3/#,....... keys, no go.

Had a brain fart, once I googled " ascii keyboard codes " had the answer.

The are hundreds of symbols and letters that you can access by holding down the alt key and typing a series of numbers, when you release the alt key you have a character that is not on your keyboard. Example the Germany spelling of Munich is München, the ü is not on an American keyboard. street / Straße. Just another tool built into our PCs that most people don't know about.

I assume it has been mentioned about the virtual keyboard in windowz?

start -> accessories -> accessability -> on-screen keyboard

You can set it to other languages also, to have access to the special characters.
