Title: missing bolt?
Post by: alibaba on July 04, 2009, 08:53:43 PM
I have a brand new 2009 Monster 696.  When removing the fuel tank, I noticed that the hex head bolt that attaches the tank to the frame was missing from the left side.  There is a fitment on both sides. The right side one was there.  Shouldn't there be a bolt on the left side also?

Interestingly, in the directions for removing the tank, it only mentions removing the right side bolt.

Any thoughts?

Seems Italians just don't like redundancy. My 2009 M 696 has only one bolt as well. I think most are this way.

If I remember correctly, there are several 696s on this board w/ the same bolt missing.  SOmething to do w/ the plastic tank being able to expand and contract safely w/ only 2 anchor points secured vs 3.
