Title: 02 monster 620 ie... bogging down and not able to ride
Post by: ncblackbeauty on July 07, 2009, 09:56:10 AM
my bike was parked all winter due to cold weather and me not being able to afford new tires at the time. and when i got on it this spring to start riding it would bogg down as soon as i started riding.. it will crank and idle fine when the plugs are still good.. it fouls plugs like nothing and is running extremely rich.. i drained the old fuel out of it but i have no idea what it could be.. Any ideas before i take it to the dealer.. im on a pretty tight budget.. i have ran lucas fuel system cleaner through it and nothing... im going to town to get some seafoam now maybe that will help... do you pour it in the tank or in the intake. thanks

What's the condition of your air filter?

BC.

There are instructions on the can - I think you can do it either way or both.  Seafoam seems to have almost a cult-like following but I wasn't impressed the time I used it.

Bladecutter has a good point about your air filter.  You wouldn't be the first to have a mouse family move in over the winter.

Yeah if you're running rich as you say - you obviously have enough fuel coming out fo the injection system - more than you need at the moment.  Since there's two parts to the fuel/air mix, and you know you've got one (fuel) then it's logical to look at the other.  Follow Bladecutters advice and start having a look around intake.

You wouldn't be the first person to find a mouse nest in their air box

the air filter is clean and is practically brand new..i run a half open airbox setup and i can hear it sucking air.. so it has to be getting air.

Check fuel lines from the tank to the throttle bodies.
One line is a return, if it's kinked that'll jack the pressure.
