oh...I did!
and if Mavel Studios can pull this off...I can't wait to see whats next.
I've heard from some industry people that this movie was a big deal for the fact that Marvel said a nice little FU to the major studios and did it on their own, Kinda bypassing the normal channels things are done through (and also not having to submit to studio pressure on various aspects of the film).
I think they made the right choice.
Saw it. Loved it! RDJr was perfect as Tony Stark. [thumbsup]
Heard something interesting on the radio today. Dude said that in the scene where the machines are trying to get the suit off of him there is an unfinished protoype of Captain America's shield in the background.
I have no clue if this is true. :-\

Jaohn Favreau did an awesom job. I hope they keep him around.

Under his right arm, left side of screen, on workbench in the background. Shield shaped, has what looks to be a star on it.........
Saw it(the movie, ) Saturday. Couldn't believe how empty the theatre was.
Marvelous.
"I'm famished. Fetch me a scotch."
"After 3 months in a cave, there's only two things a man wants. An American cheeseburger, and.........
a press conference..."
saw this with my gf a few weeks ago. she was about as stoked to see it as me [thumbsup]
the movie was awesome.. I've seen it 2 times already... worth every penny...
I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more shots of him kicking bad guy ass in the suit. Hopefully there will be more of that in the next one! 8)
I however, did not stay through the credits [bang] O well, an excuse to go see it again! [beer]
good movie....only flaws, timeline jumps/edits and not enough in the suit goodness.

Didnt even notice the lack of suit time. Lets hope Downey, Jr can stay clean long enough to crank out the sequels. I find myself looking forward to one for this franchise.

They didn't exactly say FU or bypass any channels, this was just their first try at solo producing/financing. It's still distributed by a major (Paramount) as all of their films will be. It just means more risk/reward, and yes...slightly more creative control. Let's not romanticize their motives here, it wasn't that past comic movies failed because Marvel didn't have enough say, it's just that Marvel wanted a bigger piece of the pie. ;)

He's been sober for the better part of the decade. I'm not sure about Iron Man, but when he first started working again after getting clean it was part of his contract to have a portion of his salary withheld until the production wrapped as insurance against a relapse. I'm sure he'll be fine [thumbsup]

Sorry, off topic, but your avatar looks like "The Stig" gained some weight!
[laugh]
I didn't stay through the credits, either. Damnit!

That's not The Stig. It's his fat American cousin. From the episode where all the fellas came to the USA and bought 1000 dollar used cars in FLA and drove them to New Orleans, LA. American stig drove them around Moroso. It was a scream of an episode.
Stig vs Slug
[laugh]
My wife and I _finally_ saw it. Really enjoyed the film, and loved Downey's performance. A bit rough swallowing the "I made a mechanical suit in a cave using pieces of rockets" part, but the rest made up for it.
Come On, that was totally believable..
I admit that the engineer in me does get emotionally erect thinking about how you'd do that.
I thought this was a Black Sabith thread...
The movies not out here yet and it seem like it would be better to watch in the theatre than online.
