Don't mean to thread jack but are those cycle cat kick stands from oncycles more stable than the stock stand?  I have a stock height s2r800 but seems to lean too far over on it's stand and seems a bit unstable.  Would the .57" longer kick stand make it more stable?

Sorry, it doesn't fit the S*R bikes.

Suggestions for me/2009 696 and ground clearance/scraping foot rest on sidestand constantly??   [bang]  This is unnerving and concerning and YES, I AM getting off the bike btw!

Considering chopping foot rest. Bad idea or good?   ???

Have you checked suspension sag, both front and rear?

+1 on Howie's question/suggestion.

Chopping might help get rid of the scraping, but you might have problems parking on soft surfaces.

Stock suspension-I would assume for "average" 150++ man-I am maybe 100 wet. ONLY change however is hubby let out preload on rear spring-now instead of uber stiff suspension/sag for ME personally, I actually have a little give in rear. I THOUGHT this was better all around-not convinced it is making any big difference in clearance issues.

Am I seriously the ONLY one scraping hardparts on the 696????!!

maybe adjust your lean technic to get out more in front of the bike and lean it less.

with softening the rear you allow the bike back on its rear a lot. throttling through the corners sets it back further. so you gotta load up the front a bit to even it out again.

what is your shock setting? looking back on things, i think i should have added some preload on my spring and loosened my shock setting (had it stiff shock with stock spring setting).

i think you are really setting the rear too soft. your weight distribution will be all off accelerating out of corners. my old bike had this setup (99 M900 City). with the raised bars and softer setup i ended up with a tank slapper.

there are some real racers here that can better help. just my thoughts.

Tks Raux.
think few on here are getting lil tired of me going on about this lol    Need to get Monster to good suspension guy now and let them see in person.  Had some briefly go over it, but not sure their minds were really into it at time.
Just looking at my track pix it is clear how low that sidestand is also tho.  I am JUST using all of my tires, not always-so would think I should have more lean angle room before hitting hardparts.
Just frustrating for me to have progressed to this point and be held back-or maybe it is just "the next step" in the learning process?
tks again all.

I'm not tired ;D

Work on the body positioning. Also, I think you must have some work coming up on the suspension - it can't be right that you should have to drag the stand at normal track riding. (don't know the 696, but I think Raux is right)

Thank you boyz  [bow_down]   [thumbsup]

going back to mountains over Labor Day weekend for some serious riding with the Speed Triple boyz again this year and hope to make a track day with DaytonaSportbikes end of Aug so determined to hook up with a good suspension guy before and put it to the test on my "private street tracks" .

It's gotta be combo suspension and pilot error. Learned thru years training horses most times it is the latter and can accept that, as long as I figure out a "fix" sooner than later.

And so back to kickstand topic, sorry....
