Sorry for the IZ'ish pics, but all I had was a cell phone, and didn't want to get close for fear of a used car salesman attacking me:

Scissor Doors? ???
the sign behind the car says it all
Just another sad progression of the "bling" culture. Ironically a coworker was just last week describing such a car one of his friends had stating that the doors were crap rattling around and all and his friend would drive around with the doors up to show off. Ya gotta have the flash yo!

I know what it is, just never heard of term.
That wouldnt qualify as a Gull-wing according to wiki. we just call them lambo doors up here.
how hard would it be to ghost ride it? it would be tricky to get in and hout with that thing hitting yoru face.

Scissor Doors? ???
ding ding ding [clap]
Almost, but not quite. Scissor doors, such as those on the Lamborghini Countach, open directly upward. These things, since hacked onto cars not designed for true scissor doors, have to open outward slightly before swinging up-ish. They aren't butterfly doors (see McLaren F1, Ferrari Enzo) either.
Wikipedia calls them "VLS doors", but doesn't explain the acronym. I call them hilarious.
VLS
Vertical Lift System
Personally
i like em
but
they need to be a 4-5k one-off mod
not an 800 dollar kit
it would limit the cars they were grafted to and thus they would retain their cool factor and not be seen on every other primered civic
My bad, I knew gull wings wasn't right, but I didn't know what to call them.

You mean, just scissor?

but anyway... a gull wing sedan would be frickin' sweet if it were all four doors [evil]

that works, too [thumbsup]
how rigid could that chassis possibly be, though?

I don't know, look at how many thousand dollar cars are rolling around with four thousand dollar wheels...

You should see the convertible.

Depends on the type. On a lotus, you can cut off the entire roof without compromising any rigidity.

With all the doors closed it probably wouldn't be too bad. The doors would act as a support member.
But what happenes when the doors open with 4 adults in it? I see a bit of sagging happening...

I thought the same thing, but if you look at the interior shots, I think he's sitting on airbags...
