Title: Speedometer/tach options?
Post by: Mike Qube on July 14, 2009, 10:30:35 AM
Right now I have this speedometer;

What are my options for getting one with a tach on it? DO have have to go with an OEM or are there any aftermarket options that will work?

I had an 00 750 with that speedo, and I swapped it out for the 900 style wich had a tach. Super easy to do, but the cost of new was appox. $350. I bought a new tach, and a new cluster box. You may be able to find a used one on e-bay for much less.

I have the same issue on my '93 M900. Anybody here have a rough idea of what newer styles will fit older bikes? Saw one on fleabay but like to look before I leap. Thanks.

You could replace the old speedo with a tach that has a speed read out from these people:

Go to the "PRODUCTS" menu and click on "Series Classic".  Do watch the bike photos on the home page.  Spidey's Monster is there.

There is also a British company that sells items like these, but I don't remember the name.  Painter has one on his bike.

Neat!  They asked if they could use a pic, but I never knew what came of it.  Thanks for pointing that out, Howie.
