Chuck E. Cheese just turned me down for a "mid level" management position.
I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad.
Wow dude, I don't even know what to say?!

Be happy. ;)
American Beauty Fast Food (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kQ9cRx9fUM#ws-lq-lq2-hq-vhq)
I tried to think of something witty to say regarding going lower that involved chicken strips (fast food). :(
I feel ya Joel. :-\
Sorry to hear that BP, but if it makes you feel any better, Chuck E Cheese has been having some MAJOR problems with its customers lately...probably best not to work there anyway [thumbsup]
I truly don't know if I should be happy or sad for you. You can and will do a lot better.
That one wasn't for you, BP.
The right one is still out there for you. You're going to find it soon. [thumbsup]
Does it really matter?
My dad always said, when you need to put food in your mouth, any job is a good job. you're not at that point yet, but the fear should get you motivated to keep looking!
Where do you live anyway?

Screw that, be grateful.
it must have been the psychological profile.
they realized that you don't loathe yourself enough to work there.
Got turned down by Lowes this spring. That was after passing the pysco test, drug test and 3 interviews. I was only looking to work part time unloading trucks at night. I know the feeling.
BE VERY HAPPY.
I've always said that the surest way to get rich is sell birth control in the parking lot of a Chuck E Cheese
That place is hell with bad pizza.
I managed a taco bell for two years
[beer]
Chuck E. Cheese... Worlds largest petri dish.
be sad and grateful... ;)

I've been looking for a temp job in Portland for a few weeks. I just want to find something till sept-oct ish. Last week I got turned down to be a canvasser by a guy with three foot long dreads. >:( I didn't care about his dreads one bit, I was just pissed he thought I was too dumb to bang on peoples doors. [bang]
Might have had something to do with the fact I told him I got annoyed when they would bang on my door. :P
Good luck out there.
don't sweat it, it's nothing a bottle of win can't fix...
You're not the only one...
Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, Batteries Plus, Target... nada I KNOW that I have more tool and building knowledge than 75% of their employees, but that doesn't matter.
Then I got lucky and built a deck for a friends father, repaired some siding, then helped a buddy fix up a new house, painted a few rooms, built a few bookshelves and a pantry... The work hasnt stopped, now I have too much work.
got any trade skills? I know I am young, stupid and have a strong back, but sometimes getting dirty is more rewarding than dealing with snot nose Timmy. I don't know how it is down there, but I think most people would rather hire a hard working resident to do menial jobs than some illegal day laborer on the side of the road.
Since you've got some free time, read Shop Class as Soulcraft.
I know why they turned you down BP........ you're way too tall for the mouse suit [cheeky]
Good luck man [thumbsup]

I remember getting turned down for a cook job at McDonalds in college. Put it this way, you can only move up from here.

It's not dealing with Timmy that pisses me off. I can handle kids. It's Timmys mom that gets me riled up.

I've worked in machine shops for 28 years. They are actually surprised if you aren't a felon.

your over qualified, they know your only taking the job as temporary and as soon as something better comes along you'll be gone. It costs money to train, and if you only hang around a few months, well they just got screwed. Dumb down your resume for the job.
have you applied at starbucks?

So does half the Starbucks corporation. Seriously, ask a barista next time.
It's a good job man, benefits even for the part timers.
Yep

not a bad company to climb in
get your own store or be a district manager and you are sittin pretty fat
and
now that the old school guy who started it is back in the saddle
the place is almost getting its cool factor back
Working at a Starbucks would be pretty much the same thing as working at a Ducati dealership, right? [cheeky]
