Title: Help installing Monster Parts LED Tail light.
Post by: AleksT on July 17, 2009, 11:33:35 AM
Hi All,
I did a search but couldn't find anything on this but I bought an LED tail light unit (for my 00 M900ie) from Monster Parts but there are no instructions with it regarding how to wire it to my existing line. Has anyone done this yet? (I'm sure they have) If you could help me out with which wires to connect where I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks everyone.

Aleks

if you have just the circuit board its plug and play, litteraly. just match up the wires.

If you have the whole unit, then its also plug and play. though you might need to open up the back casing to see which wire goes where.

the two wires on left and right of the unit are probably the blinkers, and theres a main power, and they all share 1 ground. that means there should be 4 wires total.

black is usually the ground.

Thanks He Man.  I guess it should be that simple if they share the same ground. Okay, I will try it out and if I get them mixed up a bit I figure it shouldn't hurt anything.

Thanks.

Be damn careful before you switch anything on to make sure that NO WIRES ARE TOUCHING EACH OTHER. This goes double for the licence light bulb - i don't know what ur set up is here, but if you fool around with the standard licence plate bulb housing, and get it wrong putting it back together or something - such that the terminals inside the housing are somehow touching, you may fry your wiring loom.

Just be careful that no wires are touching before you switch ignition on.  :)
