Post by: duc996 on July 18, 2009, 04:42:07 PM
Can't seem to decide if i should put on front fairings or leave it out? So i might just go for the majority,do you guys have it on or off? TIA!!!

Depends really. I find it effective above 75-80, but it looks so much better without it...

+1
Looks way better without it, but aerodynamics are much improved with it on.  I guess it comes down to what's more important to you...looks or function.

i leave it off. it makes a big difference in fatigue for the 75-80mph stints though. and i mean a lot.

+1 for off.
Now maybe I'm the only one, but I have found A LOT less wind buffeting with the screen off at all speeds. The screen would always push the wind right to my helmet.
My 2 cents. (Crap, now I'm all out.)

+1 for off, though I have put it back on for 6+ hour rides, which I then remove promptly once I get back. It actually does work at higher speeds for me, but as far as looks go, definitely off.

+2.  More wind at my chest and shoulders, but the wind directed at my helmet has been all but eliminated.

I'll go against the Majority here, I prefer them on.  ;D

I have a CF cowel to go with my CF fender so off. But every so often when i want a new look I put the original cowl and the faring on.

I like mine off as well, But ive been known to get a wild hair and put it back on now and then.  It really only takes 15 min to take it on or off.

Since I have......modified my front end, I can no longer put the windscreen on...

Mine's off and I have never understood the comment about protection from wind blast. Both of my bikes are Naked and neither has a wind screen. Maybe it's the way I hold my head when I ride but I regularly travel at 80-90-100+ and don't get the wind blast.

i finally installed front cowl a few weeks ago for first time.

It's ugly.

I am so used to riding without it for 4 years that I can't tell the benefit yet.   I will keep it on for this season and decide.

In the minority, I like it on.

After riding and I see all the chips/dings/bugs all over it, I'm glad that I have it, but looks wise, would rather have it off.

+1 for it off, i actually like the wind beating on my chest at high speeds it takes a little pressure off my wrist.
