Title: S4R oil cooler question
Post by: cruzr180 on July 19, 2009, 06:37:37 AM
Need to replace the oil cooler on my 04 S4R.  Having a hard time finding a used one.  Anyone know if any other ducati models use the same cooler?
This one has oil lines on each side plus a 3rd smaller one on the left side.  Or can another cooler be modified to fit?

Is this the correct oil cooler?
It says KTM on the top and bottom. Dont mind the dent. :)

That looks right.  KTM makes Ducati coolers.

Oil coolers are oil coolers.  The only special thing about the S4R unit is the fitting for the oil line to the head (top left in your pic).  Finding a cooler with threaded openings for 3 fittings might be challenging.

Good idea, wrong fitting.

To use an aftermarket cooler, he needs a fitting with one 14mm (?) threaded male joint connected to both a 14mm (?) female joint and a 10mm female joint to accept a banjo bolt -- pretty tall order.  Even then, I'd be wary about the new setup delivering oil to the heads at the same rate/temperature as the OEM setup.
