I've just pulled the trigger.
Twice.
In 3 days.
On Friday my wife and I drove down to MA to look at a red 696 for her and came back with an agreement to purchase it. Earlier today we drove up to ME to look at a white 696 (with Termi kit) and came back with an agreement to purchase it, too. I may finally understand the visceral appeal of Termis now.
Three years ago neither my wife nor I had ridden any sort of 2-wheeler. Now we have 3 Monsters and a Vespa. That's messed up! Does Klotz get transformed to cocaine fumes in a desmo engine, or something?
Obviously it's time to sell the 620 now.

Turn the 620 into a track bike. [evil]
Nothing wrong with you. ;)
Yeah, you sound perfectly normal to me too. :)
As long as you're not selling yourself on the streets to pay for them, I think you're perfectly fine [thumbsup]

I wasn't going to say anything.

why don't you sell the 620 and pick up a SF. hahaha

Well, because that would mean we'd have 2 696's, a Vespa, AND a Streetfighter...
I know you mean get a SF instead of a 696. I'm just a middle-aged guy with 3 New Hampshire summers of lifetime riding experience. A 620 is more than enough to get me killed - I'm never, ever going to approach the limits of its performance, let alone the limits of a Termi-kitted 696. I'm not a track guy. I'm not a wheelie guy. A streetfighter is not for me.
Besides, the 696 was $7k. Where am I going to get a SF for that?
The only thing wrong I see is wanting to get rid of the 620. You need a "back up bike" if one of the 696s gets a flat! [thumbsup] [moto]

My son has already made this argument, as well as some others for keeping the 620. I've responded that he's still a year away from getting his driving license and that even when he's passed the MSF and gets his moto endorsement that doesn't mean he necessarily gets to ride a Monster right away (which is pretty obviously his agenda in suggesting the 620 be kept).

Yeah, I think so. I know the 696 is the baby Duc and that many people crave more, bigger, faster, etc.
I also know my limits, including the time to develop more riding expertise. There's enough going on in my life that I'm not going to be doing track days. I've only put about 1,000 miles per year on the 620.
The hope is that will go up now that Tracy has something that can keep up better than the Vespa, but even in the unlikely event that seat time doubles I'm going to be building skills slowly enough that I really don't expect ever to push the real limits of the bike. I've already pushed (and exceeded) mine, but those are completely separate limits.
As far as I can see, DMF is like the AA meetings for alcoholics. Every person on the board has a problem and none of us are trying very hard to fight this disease. [laugh] [laugh] [laugh]

Or even fighting it at all!
I have 1 running Monster, 3 project Monsters, a project SS-framed-thing, and a growing lust for an SBK.
There's nothing wrong with you! (That way, I get to believe there's nothing wrong with me!!!!) [laugh]

welll today i officially get CC-envy... is there a pill?
Love the 696... but i was eaten up on the straightaway buy a jap sportbike.
I know in the corners around here i would do well but watching another bike pull away at 190kph... sick feeling.

Raux rides on the Autobahn. ;)
I've got the cure for your issues. Send me all the bikes and the scooter. Include anything motorcycle related along with them. Burn all your pictures and pray for forgiveness.....

I'm way past middle age.
3 years ago I had never ridden a Ducati . Just Harley Cruisers and BMW Sport Tourers ( did have a BMW K1200S ) .
Now I've got 3 bikes, including a Ducati S4Rs and 1098 R ( WSBK Homologation # 242 of 450 in the world ) .
I certainly wouldn't have believed 3 years ago that I'd be carving up corners and strafing through the hills at triple digit speeds at times.
Life throws us change ups and we need to be ready to take on those new challenges since life is really short .
Enjoy your new Italian wonder bikes.
Dolph :)

BTW My wife rides a vespa and loves it but I have 4 cars and 2 bikes. And i'm in several support groups (forums) for my addiction.
Well...I took a tour to the dealer and spent some time on the Streetfighter today...
Standing still only, but still....nice nut-buster
On the way back I tried to max out the 695 and hit 210 km/h on the meter and 194 on the GPS.
So why do I want a sports bike again ? no idea...just happy with what I have.
With 110 being the limit here in Denmark I better don't try my luck with an even faster bike [leo]

210kph is 130mph. Randall could get his 620 to 140mph / 225kph. There must be something wrong with your 695.

It's the new girls' Duc. ;D
OK, I'm just jealous, because I only have one Monster :(

<shrug> I quit worrying about stuff like that decades ago.
I'll be down to a single Monster very soon, I hope. Of course it's rained constantly since I made this decision and thus haven't been able to take photos to put a listing together.

If only they made a 695 Capirex then maybe it could.
i'm going to change the gearing on the 696 just for you guys and try to hit 145 ;)

Yeah, me too... [evil] Gee, I wonder who put
THAT idea in my head?
I'll give you a hint... It rhymes with Yuck-Poo.... :-* ;D
I'd like to open up my " R " and see what it will do.
There is a 12 mile stretch of Interstate 70 that has a 15 foot wall between it and the opposing lane.
I could get on the inside lane on a cloudy day when there are no " Bears in the Air ."
But the more I think about it , at my age it's better to believe one of the Cycle Mags that ran a stock one , not a race prepared one like mine, and they got I think around 185 mph if memory serves me.
Nothing good can happen at 185 mph. Not even an Orgasm !
