Title: Single Line? Post by: rebelpacket on May 21, 2008, 04:16:16 AM Howdy Folks,
While rebuilding my '98 M900, I realized that the previous owner had a custom brake line made (going from the master cylinder to the union) for the front brakes. It was a much shorter line, as he was running it with clip-ons. I bought the bike without the original line, but I can't seem to find anywhere to buy -JUST- that line. I'm running standard handlebars, and its much to short for that. Anyone know who to call, that might sell only just that line? I've scoured the net for a few days, and come up empty handed. Thanks! -Alex Title: Re: Single Line? Post by: junior varsity on May 21, 2008, 06:53:25 AM Brake lines you'll need to custom order.
I have spiegler, and I like them a lot - you get to pick colors. Mine are red with gold fittings. Your local shop can do this, as can Motowheels. You'll need to measure though if anything is non-standard. ANYTHING. Title: Re: Single Line? Post by: rebelpacket on May 21, 2008, 08:38:06 AM Hmm. I didn't know Motowheels would make them for you. I'll give them a call and see if they have a standard line they can sell me.
I'm going from 'non-standard' to standard. I never much liked the clip-ons on my monster, so I'm going back to the regular bars. I fiddled with it after I posted that, and I managed to get everything mounted, but the whole line is off at a weird "U" shape, which I'm sure isn't going to last too long. I just can't find anyone that sells the one line. Seems to be the whole kit, or nothing at all. Title: Re: Single Line? Post by: Slide Panda on May 21, 2008, 10:06:32 AM Check the parts for sale section. Motored Sports has a number of ,monsters that are being parted out. Stock brake lines probably aren't high demand items so you might well get one pretty easily.
Motowheels sells the custom spiegler set ups Title: Re: Single Line? Post by: junior varsity on May 21, 2008, 10:28:38 AM Call Motowheels, I usually talk to Brian, but they've all been good.
OR Call Chris at CA-Cycleworks, and let him know what you want. Getting upgraded braided lines is never a bad idea. |
