can anyone help me? I cant find the thread where it's explained how to get info from my duc's vin number.
the vin is ZDM1RA2K45B067585
Specifically i'm looking to know whether the vin says the bike is a dark or not.
Thanks!
Here's an example of the breakdown, but the VIN won't tell you color or if the bike was a "Dark" or not. :(

thanks for the info! but doesn't serve my purposes :'(
issue here is that my crazy insurance company seems to think my M620 is a dark and it is all kinds of not. i'm trying to prove it to these idiots. interesting.
thanks anyway!
what does it matter if its a dark or not?
Dark is considerably cheaper bike - effects the blue book and the payout - which they are already trying to screw me on.
Tell them its not a dark, and if they dont believe you, have someone come and catalog the parts at their expense. if they are not willing to, then tell them there is no way of knowing if the bike is a dark or not from the vin number, and since it was never registered as a dark, then its in all likelyhood it isnt a dark. If they dont agree, then tell them you are going to seek the advice of a lawyer on how to best approach this situation because you feel like your getting taken advantage of and all you want is the payout for proper amount.
and i just checked ducatis website. the 620 dark only has 5 gears, the 620 has 6. (unless its a typo) tell them to get their ass out here and shift it then tell them to eat a pack of sand while he cuts you the check.
also 1v2 disc brakes up front.
seriously the crap they try to pull is just BS. remember you dont have to accept their offer. But to make things more fun, if they are not willing to go out and prove you wrong, then id just ring up a lawyer to handle it. no point in aruging with someone whos made up their mind.
Unfortunately the VIN won't tell you. Did you buy the bike new? If not, can you find the original owner or selling dealer? Original purchase papers probably state whether it is a Dark or not. You might also email DNA and ask them to confirm the model.
Thanks for the advice. This woman is just a complete idiot who has already admitted to two mistakes and can't figure out how to use her computer. I'm just going to ask for a new claims person today.
I was trying to figure out what she meant by "according to the VIN your bike is a 2005 M620 Dark" but if the VIN doesn't show it, now I can say with full confidence, "Lady, you are full of shit"

Unfortunately, its not that simple - 2005 was a really transitional year and the bike available in the US actually had the standard gearing and 2-disc brakes it was just a cheaper 5 gear single disc was available in Europe. BUT, its so completely obvious from the style of the bike - I told them to just call up the mechanic and ask him since the bike is still there. Nope. they are too retarded for that. so i'm sending them in a copy of my bill of sale and hoping that works!

Do you know anyone at a dealer that can run the VIN for you and see what it says?
If the lady said it is a Dark, then it seems the VIN is giving her that information somehow...maybe from the DMV? How else would she know what a Dark is, unless she's a Ducati person??
it says its a dark because the person who processed my application online must have orginally checked the wrong box, i guess.
to make matters worse, my mechanic, when prompted, replied "is it dark? yes, of course. it's black." and hung up on them (he's not one to be trifled with)
What does the title say? My S2R800 Said S2RD (in 2005, there was no differenciation since the 1000 wasn't in the S2R yet)...

Thats pretty make the beast with two backsing retarded consdiering she just played stupid right there. She knows its different cause thats the make the beast with two backsing arguement to begin with.
The title doesn't specify >:(
She can't seem to comprehend that by not saying "Dark" it means that it is not a Dark. Apparently she wants it to specify "not Dark?" I have no idea. Well, they are the one's paying for all the storage costs and I told my mechanic go ahead and charge them up the ass, I won't release the bike until I have an amount in writing.
Yeah, time for someone who understands the English language to handle the claim. Some people should just never be allowed out of the house...

I wish I could use the foreigner excuse for this woman, but she's clearly from Kansas.
