G'day all

Just received some new Rizoma Indicators and I notice in each pack is 2 resistors, now this is of course seperate to the little box to corvert the voltage, that I understand and don't have a problem with. I'm setting this up on an 07 S2R 800.

Do you need 2 resistors? or are they allowing for some bikes will need one, some may need 2 to stop the fast flashing problem.

So my assumption would be wire each indicator with one resistor each, if it flashes to fast, wire in the second resistor, or has everyone found they needed the 2 resistors when using them on a Monster.

Hey CD, I have some older Rizoma indicators on my '05 S2R ... they didn't have the load box back then (little black boxes) and resistors were meant to be used to slow down the blink rate. I didn't install the resistors and went with the fit inducing rapid blink ... generally gets attention.

Jukie has newer Rizoma indicators which come with the little load boxes ... apparently you MUST install the load boxes or they will blow. I didn't think they had separate resistors as well ... could be wrong though.

I have no clue why each signal comes with 2 resistors. You should have the Signal, with attached loadbox, and 2 resistors in each package. You only need one resistor per signal, because the resistors have both a positive and negative wire.
So basically, if you bought 4 signals, when all is said and done, you will have two pairs of unused resistors.

Use 1 resistor per signal (long black rectangle), AND make sure you keep the loadbox(fatter black box) intact.
It's nice to get a couple pairs of free resistors out of the deal...

the second resistor is for bikes w/ 21w circuits.   Just use 1 per light. (i assume the 800 is 10w).

this might sound strange but i installed my rizomas all around without resistors (just load boxes) have almost 1000 miles like that and they work fine,
on the s2r the blink rate is regulated by the Cluster/ECU i was told
correct me if i'm wrong (or ready to blow them)

I have an 08 S2R1K and only installed the load boxes (mandatory), but not the resistors.  The indicators work perfectly fine with no blink rate issues.

From what i understand, if you only install either fronts or rears, and the other set is stock, you MIGHT not need resistors..

I tried without resistors, and absolutely needed them when installing all four blinkers..

The flash rate IS controlled by the dash cluster, but it still functions like an electronic flasher unit. It responds to current resistance from the bulb. If the bulb blows, the resistance gets boned, and the rest of your bulbs flash mega-fast to let you know you need a new bulb. When installing LED signals, the resistance levels are entirely different, and it will depend on how your particular bike's gauge cluster decides to respond to the resistance differences. Mine responded like there was a burnt out bulb, and gave my blinkers a seizure-inducing flash rate.

I had LED turnsignals front and back on the S2R800 with no resistors. Lived with the fast blink rate and never "blew" anything...

I have rizoma signals front and back. However, I started with fronts, and then added the back signals about 2 weeks later. When I installed the front set, I didn't add the resistors at all and the blink rate was very fast.

Two weeks later, I added the rears, AND added the resistors. By adding the two resistors into the system, I slowed the blink rate for front and back.

Summary: add one resistor for the left, and one for the right. Doesn't matter if you put them on the front signals or the back. You just need to add them to the overall circuit. Done.

I wound up with 4 extra resistors in total. Anyone want them?

I only used 1 resistor each side with Rizoma Zero-11's on a 696.  Tried it without the resistors at first, just the load boxes, everything worked fine other that the spastic blink rate.  Adding in just one per side slowed it down to a more acceptable rate.

Like was stated earlier, I think they add a second due to some bike's having 21w indicator circuits. 

Well, about 9:30 last night I got Bored, the TV was boring (50 or so channels on Pay TV and nothing on to watch, Who'd have thunk it! [bang] ) So I figured I might go and have a look at wiring in the Rizoma's.

Wired them in with no resistors and they blink at the normal rate, so all the resistors went in the spares carton.

Wiring was the easy part, Mounting them up on the bike, now that was the fun bit, but I'll post up a topic on that tonight with some pictures when I get home from work.

But the little suckers are super bright and look a lot better than the old Ducati droopy indicators that were on there.  [thumbsup]
