Title: Powder-coating 696 footpeg brackets? Post by: mstevens on July 21, 2009, 07:00:51 PM Yeah, I know some people call them "rearsets." I figure that term only really applies if the foot positions are moved toward the rear. Anyway...
I'm picking up a used 696 later this week. It's in very nice shape except for shallow scratches on both footpeg brackets. (The seller wears construction boots with big metal eyelets that also scratched a seat cowl.) I don't find any take-offs for sale, though this may pick up once more aftermarket parts become available. My supposition is that these are powder-coated from the factory rather than painted. Can anyone confirm this? Any notions of what it might run to get them re-powder-coated (or repainted, if that applies)? Title: Re: Powder-coating 696 footpeg brackets? yo ucan pc over them if they are clean enough and smooth enough, or you can strip them then pc over them. thats if the base paint can survive the oven. Title: Re: Powder-coating 696 footpeg brackets? I paid $90 for the footpeg brackets, the brake pedal, the clutch shifter, and the exhaust hangers. They told me that was the minimum charge for a batch. Old is smooth and lighter colored, new is harder to clean.
I have the first generation, and it is definitely painted/coated (mine is worn through at the ankles). A couple members have had this done... mrplease is the first to come to mind. |
